I had that set up but it felt like I lost some low end grunt putting the 4" elbow right after the throttle body. I have the factory bend after the TB and moved that elbow after the MAF with the filter.

psh, try getting headers and a hv3 on a n/a car. i'd lose to my trek bike from a dig...
 
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have a question and didn't want to start a new topic just to reference this one.

How the hell did you attach the cone filter to the end of the MAF? Did you just jam the filter over the end? Did you attach some kind of cuppler in between the MAF and filter? Explain it to me like I'm a 5 year old.

The other question I have is, will this cause the car to throw any codes/ses?
 


As long as you still use the MAF sensor you won't get any code errors. Might I suggest you try putting your cone filter on the MAF and see what happens.

Fair enough. I just don't want the filter falling off while driving, so I just need to know what everyone is using to secure it to the end of the MAF.
 
I'm lazy, I've got a cone held on with hopes and dreams.

Welp, I blew 10 bucks and got a special spectre-made MAF adapter. I honestly didn't do a whole lot of research, and am really banking on the screw holes lining up.
 


Jesus christ, I totally brain farted that one. Can't screw TWO METAL CLIPS into 4 screw holes can ya?

dude, i took a 3" coupler and attached it from the TB to the MAF and took a drill bit to it for the pcv. i then slapped my huge cone on the end of the MAF. BAM. i love itttttt

I have made 2 different intakes, warm air intake for winter and cold air intake for summer,if you need help pm me. i know where to get the parts and can slap warm air intake setup together in 5 minutes. cause the pics i see are not CAI...they are WAI.
 


thread brought back to life once again. I have a 4" 45 degree bend off of the tb connected to the maf then filter with home made heat shield. lost a lot of low end torque but gained high end HP feels slower but gets up quick at speed. just wondering if I ran a 3" 45* if the tq would come back or if I should put the maf after the tb. can't find anything about what I'm experiencing.
 
I also used a 22.5 degree elbow instead of a 45. The straighter the path the greater the flow. I didn't lose any torque at all. I don't believe using a 4" is a good idea because it would disrupt the air flow path IMO. Kind of just like people that hollow cats tend to lose power also. It slows down the velocity to my understanding. Sure 4" worked on 97-03 but they also didn't have a 3.25" bottleneck right after the filter.
 
3inch coupler, 45 degree pvc, 3 inch coupler, maf, 3 inch coupler, filter. and it fits nice and snug inside my half airbox. hopefully somewhat colder there...tho it is def a HAI. then i just drilled the pvc and used an old oring for a tight seal for the PCV hose. and yes i know my engine bay is dirty hasn't had it's spring cleaning yet. full of sand and dirt
