hey guys

i have a chance to buy a 1999 gtp
it has 225k km. no rust
its loaded with everything sunroof, hud, leather etc.
it has new brakes front and back, new mufflers, new wires and plugs
it needs rockers, tie rods and a windsheild
hes asking 2000 but is open to offers.

is this a good deal? what should i offer him?

"and a windsheild"?? lol
Id ask for 1,500-2,000 if you REALLY want the car. but you can get basically the same without needing the rockers tie rods and windsheild for under 4,000

Have you bought one yet? One thing I wish I would have checked for was rocker panels with no rust. Check those thoroughly. Cancer for our cars. Ever think of getting a GT with plans of a top-swap later? I had to replace a couple windshields on a 96 cavalier $1000 each time (probably due to the guy soaking the ins company). Just my $0.02
And yea 225k = 225,000,000 meters sounds like an absurdly long distance, but wouldn't take long for some of the guys in here:burnrubber0:

well i went to look at it and it was in alot rougher shape than the seller said.
the engine bay was full of coolant. the rockers were rusted down to nothing, and there were lots of dents and small rust spots on the car
so i have decided not to buy this one.
im going to look at another black 99 gtp this weekend

what would it cost for a top swap on a gt?
i thought about it but i assumed it would be cheeper to buy a gtp

Hi stevem3e46. That's good price enough. I think you should deal with him. But if you want to lessen your expensive, you ask him to give you a discount on it. :D

When I bought my car I had the choice between black 4-door GTP and red 2-door GT. Knowing what I know now, (which isnt much compared to some people on here) I would have gone w/ the GT.
With a few easy mods, you can get ur HP close to the GTP anyway, and you also always have the option of top-swap which puts out more power than stock L67 due to higher comp ratio. Am I right guys?

Hi ZR1Vette09. Is that a joke?LOL peace out man. :D

Lol he said 225k km which to me says 225 thousand thousand meters. I k ow what he meant.

Yeah, not a huge difference in compression. The choice should be based on the amount of attention to modding you want to do. If you don't mind a top swap, and like the gt better, go with that ya know?

I had a GT for 3-4 years and everyday I wanted a GTP. And now that I have one, I know why... Not to mention nearly every GTP is loaded with leather and HUD and most GT's are not. If you really know what your doing, look for a GTP with a blown motor or trans and then just swap a better one in. I got my gtp with a blown motor for 750 and dropped a l32 in all for just over 2k

well i changed my mine
i bought a 94 trans am instead.
got it for $1600 with 218600km about 135k miles

hopefully one day i will buy a grand prix though.
