Buying a basic exhaust (not performance)

I've been looking all over the internet for a replacement exhaust and it seems like all i can find are alot of different performance exhaust systems which are too expensive . Im only looking to replace this exhaust because of rust, not really interested in an upgrade unless its affordable. Does any one know what online stores or even local stores might be a good place to look? I live in in southern ontario canada in case someone knows of one around here. Also, although rock auto had what i was looking for at a price i found to be reasonable, the shipping to canada ended up more than doubling the final cost, making it way too expensive, so rock auto's out. Anyway thanks in advance for any suggestions.

ebay has cat backs for like 250, that over the boarder shipping tho.

the 97-03 cat backs fit the 04 up cars too. so dont let the year listed sway you from a cheaper sale price.

Ok so I've looked around at pricing and it looks like there's an AP exhaust system which will only run me $311. I feel like that's a good price, but do any of you know if it's even worth buying? I mean I'm sure this is not exactly a great quality exhaust system, but am I just gonna have to replace it in a year because itt will rust through? If that's the case then $311 is just a waste of money and I mine as well buy something made of stainless steel even if it is $200 more, right? Any way If any of you guys know about AP as a brand that would help me out a bunch, so thanks in advance.

Can't comment on the brand but if you are really worried about the winter weather getting to it, just be proactive and protect it before hand.

At any auto parts store they sell paint that can resist exhaust gas temps, most up to 500º F, which the catback will never see. Spend the 20 bucks on 2 cans and just spray the whole exhaust down before you install it. That should add years to the life of the system.

Well that would make sense for the winter weather, however, I've been told that mufflers generally rust from the inside out more than from the outside due to moisture gathering on the inside. I would imagine (although I've never done this before) that it would be very difficult, if not impossible to coat the inside of the muffler with this spray. Unless I'm missing something. Thanks for the reply.

a junkyard would be an option accept where I live odds are it would be rusted up pretty badly if it's used. Unless I got lucky and found one that was after market and SS that was in good shape. I Guess I'll keep it mind. Thanks for the replies guys.

I can't imagine ap being that bad.

Walker claims they make stainless mufflers, but they're very pricey.

Do you really plan on keeping the car that much longer?

Iirc the factory muffs have holes in them to let the water drain out. Guess they could get plugged up and not let it drain, accelerating the rust. Either way, $311 every 9 years isn't too bad, no reason to spend more on a stainless system. If it lasts another 9 years, it'd be worth every penny. Just put away $3/mo. for your exhaust replacement fund, lol.
