Buick 3.8 into 98 GP GT Help?

I have a quick question I was hoping everyone could help me with please. I have a friend junking a Buick Regal? not sure on exact model, year is mid/late 90's. I have a 98 GP GT with a 3.8 Series II N/A in need of a motor, and I was wondering what year did Buick go to the same Series II motors, and what models? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

After checking it out last night, it's a 95 Buick Regal LS, which is the first actual year for the Series II motor according to some internet research on Buicks, and looking at the motor itself. Looks pretty close, other than the Power Steering? and Alternator being in different locations than on the GP. Valve covers looked a bit different also.

Then that was the series one motor, you can't use that.

The Series II did appear starting in 95. If the upper intake is the same on the GP and the Regal, then it's an simple swap. The motor is the same under the brackets. Swap your brackets etc and poof...it's in .

If everyone can bear with me, I'll go snap some daylight pics of the 95 Regal motor later today. It was 9 pm when I stopped over last night. I just don't want to end up with more lawn ornaments. Happened when a guy with a 2001 GP sold me the whole car as a parts car. He ended up just putting a 3800 Series II engine cover on top.....but underneath was a 3.1. No wonder he left PDQ after it was off the trailer. Thanks for all info so far guys.

Fivefingerdeathpunch, that picture you posted in the thread is the exact motor that's in the Regal. I went back today to take pictures/look further. Unlike the GP's, I noticed that there was only one forward motor mount. My 98 GP GT will be my first venture into GP ownership, and I have yet to tear into it to see how it was designed. I am very mechanically inclined, and can do the research to find out how to get something done correctly. Research says that the 95 Buick Regal LS was the first year of the Series II, but that intake manifold looks smaller, and the couple of other things that look different. It will be so much easier for me to find an exact duplicate motor, and go from there, instead of a motor that I have doubts about.
