budget suspension replacement

Hello, everyone. It has been a while since I've posted being busy closing on a new house, but I have a question/want some opinions. My 1999 GP SE's ride has lately getting rougher and rougher. Thinking it is time to replace some of the suspension but I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on a budget setup. It feels like the rear end is sloppier than the front and depending on the road, I have an almost POGO effect in the ride. I'm not sure if my front strut tower brace is causing this or if it is something else.

Going to be moving into a new house and I only plan on keeping the car for another 6-8 months, hence why I want to go as inexpensive as possible for the replacement parts. I'm thinking rear sway bar and 4 new quick-struts for sure. Any other suggestions while I have the car apart?

Thanks in advance; as usual this forum is super helpful!

Leave the rear sway alone. Most likely just worn out struts. Check RockAuto, Amazon, Partsgeek and Ebay for prices. I've got quite a few things pretty cheap through Amazon lately.

And don't forget to change all the strut mounts. Likely those are junk too.

Grab a can of PB Blaster and soak down all the nuts/bolts ahead of time. You'll thank me later ;)

Is the rear struts are whats causing that "sloppy" feeling? What are the strut mounts you are talking about? Thanks everyone for the help.

The sloppy feeling is likely all the struts being bad. You're basically riding on just the springs with no rebound/dampening control from the strut. If it feels like driving an actual boat on water, then it's the struts.

The strut mount is what sits on top of the strut and bolts to the car body. Has the large nut in the center of it.

As long as the rear sway isn't broken leave it be.

The non econo line quick struts are what I have on my car are what I recommend. You don't need to worry about mounts as they come with.

I bought kyb quick struts off amazon for right around $400 shipped. They are completely bolt in and really easy to install. I would recommend them.

I found a pair of rear Monroe quick struts on Craigslist for $80. A round of haggling later and I got them for $50... and they made a world of difference on my car. Trust me you can't go wrong with even that cheap of a replacement

That isnt bad. Im hoping to get another 6 months out of this car but the ride is getting unbearable. Havent decided if im going to replace it with a gtp or just get the truck i want lol. Just bought a house so the truck could be more useful.
