Broken lug nut stud replacement

I broke a rear wheel lug nut stud on my '02 Grand Prix. To save some money I'm gonna replace the stud myself, but I've honestly never done this before. Can I just knock the broken one out with a hammer and a punch or do I need a special tool?

Yup take the BFH and knock it out. Then pull the new one threw with a lug nut, using a large nut as a spacer.

I heard you should put the new stud in the freezer to make it shrink a little, to make it easier that is.

Thanks guys, it actually wasn't that difficult of a job using regular hand tools. I have the Haynes manual but it can be pretty vague at times to say the least ...

Your Haynes manual is good as a fire starter. I've yet to find one that didn't light right up. That's about all it's good for.
