BRISK plugs came in

Got my BRISK plugs today and just by looking at them and gapping, I'm not impressed. They cost enough that installing for a test is a must, but I'm not expecting much. They have screw on caps, the manufacturing seems to be a little inconsistant, the gap is less than .025. They do have a plastic cap covering the business end, which is the only plus, I guess. By the time these were gapped to .052 the ground electrode was at a pretty steep angle compared to the center electrode. No matter how good they work, I won't recommend these. I feel like I bought the spark plug equivalent of the Tornado intake.:(
 


Well Lee that sucks to put it plainly. Maybe they will work better than they look? maybe, but not likely.

What plugs did you Buy ?
With your mods you should have got the BRISK GOR14LGS

Sorry to see you are not happy with the plugs,
so far i'm still smilling good gas millage and still improved engine Performace..

If tomorrow is a good day ( No Snow ) i will take the car out with the scanner hooked up...

What kind did you buy ? The multi-spark's or the LGS ?

They make a difference in bikes in my experence.

PS. I love screw on tops :) All the cars I have have plugs with the screw on tops. Accel's in my truck, NGK's in both cars.
 
I called Brisk before ordering, and they said NOT to use the LGS plugs..period, unless your car is completely stock. They claim first of all, that the 4 to 5 HP gains they advertise were using the sliver racing and not the LGS. That the LGS will not last very long in a car with my mods even as a daily driver, due to the large gap, and burning out the "external resistor".
The only two plugs they recommended were the GR14S and G14YS. I went with the G(R)14S, because it is a resistor plug. Their tech said they've heard of no problems running the non resistor plugs in a vehicle that specs out to a resistor one, but I'm not going there.

Anyway I'll get some pictures up tonight.

Strange they say that because i am running the BRISK GOR15LGS

An find them great so far...

The other ppl that are running them have the same mods as me ++
and have been running the same plugs for over a year now no probs....

My car has been sitting because of the snow we have here
and i fired her up tonight touch of the key....

Well first chance i get i will take her for a nice run and will keep
doing test for the next 6 months to see the difference....

Can i ask who you were dealing with ?
And will pass this info on to the ppl here and see what is going on ok.

Yes they are Scott BRISK GOR15LGS are the same as 104 - 103 kind of in the middle of the 2
I was told if running 1.9 rockers cam depending on what set up to run

Now if I could just find one that is just one range colder. Wouldnt yours be two ranges colder? Im running 605's right now and I tried the 104's I believe it was and the were too cold for my engine. We are very similarly modded except the 3.4. I have an MPS on the blower, but I have a 3.8 pulley on there for now. I got a 3.4 ready to go once I can scan more.
 
I called BriskUSA, and spoke with two guys on two different occasions. They both said no to the LGS plugs. But my mod level is a little different than yours.

It seems to me that if the guys at brisk won't recommend the LGS, then there has to be good reason. Believe me I wanted to try the LGS, just because of the design, however, I'm not willing to risk my engine for that experiment.

John I'm glad you like the plugs especially because of the dollars involved. What plugs were you running before the Brisks? I went from the Autolite AR103 to NGK TR6IX and while the weather has been fluctuating too much to get a good mpg read, the performance between the two in my engine was huge.

yes the GOR15's are 2 to 3 steps colder than the GOR17LGS
 


I dunno, Im experimental...I may give them a try and I may not. I may just sidegap another set of 605's and have them cryo treated too. Probably would be about the same cost.
 
It is a super cold tempering process that greatly increases conductivity and greatly reduces overall wear.

Its a process I have been following and reading about probably for three years now. The tranny Im rebuilding will be treated and everything else I can pull off the car when the tranny is swapped out along with all my valvetrain upgrades. Its not really a hardening process as much as a toughening process. The main characteristic Im after, however, is the reduced abrassive wear and reduced friction, which kinda go hand in hand but thats what Im after.

They use the process now a lot in tooling and more and more in high performance motor sports. You may already be familiar with it if you have bought high end brake rotors. A lot of them are now being cryo treated and the extension in life by way of the reduction in wear is amazing to say nothing of their resistance to warping.

You can google it and come up with a bunch of good information.

With respect to spark plugs, it does a similar thing. Keeps the conductivity of copper but gives them the overall life of something like Platinum.
