• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Breaking into my own car

So if you take the keys out of the ignition, open and close the door (with you still in it) the doors will just go *click and lock? I bet they won't do it if someone wants to steal it.

If I ever have to leave my car running I roll down the window no matter what. Its a 2 second job thst save you a phone call or trying to find a rock for the window. I had to break in to a neighbors car that was lock with the keys in it she had manul windows and that was a big help

Your car hates you maybe it's time for go fast mods?

I have a spare but haven't had to use it. I have a habit it check for my phone, wallet and make sure my keys are in hand before I shut the door. If I'm letting the car warm up I make sure to let the driver window down just in case, you can never be to sure when it comes to electrical controls.

Do the cops not unlock your cars where you are from? In the county I live in they will, but go to Fort Wayne and they won't unless a child is in the car.

At work it's standard procedure for me to roll the drivers window down and put the keys on the seat when it's in the shop. My boss must have locked them in a customer's car before or something, he's pretty picky about it.

my gp liked to lock itself to but after the first time i fixed that problem before it became a problem. iirc its a programming feature that can be changed the same way you change the lights to flash when you hit the lock button. its in the owners manual.
now im happy i have just have a fob and a button, fob stays in my pocket and it can sense where the fob is so if its inside the car you cant lock the doors

My car is the same way. It'll never lock the fob in the car.

Only part part that sucks is I can't really warm it up in the mornings.. No remote start and a running car with unlocked doors is a no no.

I work at logan airport, my friend locked the keys inside his crappy civic. luckily for him, if you call massport they will come with a lockout kit and unlock it for free. also, me having a friend who used to work for a towing company is great- he has his own lockout kit. i am going to get one, they are only like 35bucks, but if you get pulled over with it here in MA and arent in a towing/recovery vehicle, they will take it and give you a ticket. thinking if i leave it home i can always grab it, until i lock my keys in my car haha

on your ES you should be able to separate the fob and key and only unlock the drivers door then crank it up then leave the fob in the car, lock the door manually and just use the key to unlock it..thats what i used to do with our 07 IS we used to have and thats what i do with my nissan now

I just take the key off the main ring in the morning, start it up and lock the doors and use the fob to get back in. I live in a good neighborhood but I still don't want to leave my car running ready for someone to take off in it. It takes all of 2 seconds to remove the key.

To the OP just get this, there are instructions somewhere on here on how to program it http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-New-GM-Tr...|Model:Grand+Prix&hash=item1e83ea5210&vxp=mtr

I wish all car companies did this...had a ford that came with a plastic credit card that had a key cut into it. fold the key out for use and released it goes back into shape. kept in my wallet...helped out of lockouts on multiple occasions.

I have since bought a lockout kit but its never with you when you need it.
My 97 GTP came with this. It fits right it the credit card slot in your wallet, it unlocked the doors and the trunk but didn't start the car.
