I just wanted an interesting title.
I'm having problems with my 1988 Pontiac Grand Prix. My brake pedal goes an inche from the floor, I've tried bleeding the brakes, Tested the Boost; How do I test to see if the Master Cylendar still wortks?
Lemme know what you come up with-Thanks

Re: what would you do for a Klondik bar?

cheak your brake fluid level if you keep bleeding eventually it will leak out when it was already low

You more than likely have a fluid leak in the rear or in the rear hard lines. Be sure your rear calipers are working and your brake hoses are not ruptured internally creating a bulging of the hose.

How would I check if the hose was internally ruptured?
I tried bleeding the breaks 5 times already, changed the MC and changed a caliper.....

You have to have someone press the pedal while you go around and inspect the hoses. If you replaced a caliper, was it by chance a rear? If it was you need to ratchet it out so the pads contact the rotor by activating the parking brake and releasing it about 50-100 times or you can do it manually at the caliper itself with a wrench or suitable prybar.

Replaced the caliper on the rear drivers side. Had someone sit there and press the peddal. My emerg brake has never worked since I've owned the car, 3-4 yrs. I dont know if it actually works, I dont want to activate my emerg brakes and then they're stuck on; I dont know how to release them if that was to happen:_
The car is up and running now, the brakes work- but they're still spongey. Another question: The car has been sitting for about a year; What could it be that is making the car want to stall? I've had it running on 94 oct gas but it still wants to stall once in a while.
-Thanks :)
