Brake Booster? Who has changed one?

Who here has swapped to a smaller brake booster? I am upgrading to a 3" turbo down pipe on my 2000 GP and I need to swap the brake booster? I have never done this before. Anyone have any advice/tips?

Pretty sure you'll have to take it to someone with a Tech2 to get the ABS module bled properly.

Wrong.

I'll get in touch with Bobby, and see if he'll type something out for you Tom. Because I don't remember how exactly he goes about doing it, but it's much easier than what the book calls for.

Are you saying that you don't have to bleed the ABS module, or that you know of a device that will tell the ABS module to purge other than a tech2?

when you change out the brake booster.... you dont have to take any brake lines off!

the brake lines are flexible on the master cylinder. 2 15mm nuts hold it on...take them off and move all of it foward...you wont hurt it.

you will need to take your intake off, as well as your EGR. this give you PLENTY of room to work. when looking at the brake booster. on the left side back to the firewall there is a small tab. push/pull it while twisting the entie brake booster COUNTER clockwise. the brake booster will unlock and will be able to come straight forward. BUT, you will have to disconnect it from the brake pedal under the dash FIRST!!!! its a pain to get that metal clip off, but it slides off.

then the install is the opposite. the impala brake boosters offer more brake pressure!!!!

If you take a flashlight on the passenger side of the car.. shine the light to the back of the brake booster..you will see the lock.

I installed on on my 2001 for better stopping power.

thanks....

I changed it out yesterday, and it took about 30 minuets...... and that was because I was taking my time so I wouldnt screw things up. It was a breeze and there is allot more room to play with the turbo downpipe not.

according to the Impala boosters on morads ebay page, it says they offer better braking, i say its worth a shot, he only charges 40$

9c1's are ideal, but think normal impala's work better also. they weigh a lot less too!!! weight savings!!!!!!!!
