Re: My project car

Meh, Mine were worse at 75k when I replaced the LIM gaskets. Never took pics of the injectors but the holes were nasty. You can imagine and compare lol

Just remove the o-ring, don't want to reuse them anyways. Put some gas on a rag, clean them nicely, let them dry. Do as the video said to clean them if it you think they are gunked up internally. Otherwise, just clean and use new o-rings and no worries.

Re: My project car

Someday I am actually gonna drive this thing...... The gasket on the throttle body looked brand new, too bad it cracked when I took it off. The one between the lim and supercharger was crap. with my luck the LIM is prolly shot as well, also WTH is a coolant elbow? I don't mind doing the work but I am kinda poor. I love this car but have others I need to work on right as well, is there a way to tell if I need a LIM? Coolant is brand new, cause I just changed the radiator and flushed the car like 4 times, will I lose that for doing the lim? And how much more to get to the head gasket?

Re: My project car

dont even think about the head gaskets. leave them alone.

the coolant elbow cost 5 bucks.

if you look where the lim meets the head look to see if the gasket there is black or silver, if its black, you should change it. if its silver its been done already, and your good to go.

Re: My project car

Crap it's black, still not sure what a coolant elbow is but I imagine if I buy one I can figure it out lol. Also decided to lose the engine cover and painted the supercharger.

tomorrow I will go buy a LIM Gaaket and a coolant elbow after my meeting and hopefully have this put back togeather by Friday morning so I can take it to get inspected. When you guys say polish the middle part do you mean like wet sand, or what?

#1 & #4 are both coolant elbows, little plasticy 90* tubes with o-rings on both ends, they get brittle with age and can crack. Best to replace them if your that far in, especially since they are cheap.

If the LIM Gasket is black I would suggest replacing it. You will need the gaskets (make sure to get the metal ones), a gallon of coolant (when the LIM is pulled off you will lose quit a bit) and enough oil to do a couple changes (coolant will go down into the oil channels and get in the oil with the pan). After you get done, change the oil, go for a little drive, make sure everything is working well, check for leaks and whatnot and change the oil again just to be safe. Coolant on the main bearings leads to spun bearing and a new motor. Safety first.

Re: My project car

Considering yours is a 98 model you may only need 1 of the pipes.

#12565082 Pipe
#24503423 Pipe (98 should just use this 1)
#89017825 LIM Gasket set

GM #s but any parts store should be able to cross it over to felpros

Re: My project car

Also what about a throttle body spacer? Anything like that going to help? Since the car is completely in prices any ways

Re: My project car

TB Spacers are useless in these cars. Adapters for GenV Superchargers are required but if you still rocking the factory GenIII and TB you don't need a spacer.

Re: My project car

goes in the corners where end pieces meet.

otherwise you get a nice leak.

large o ring is the t-stat o ring, some of the others are probably for things like the sc vacuum tree cap, or the N/A version, or possibly the coolant elbows.

Re: My project car

dude that alt bracket? is it out or did you twist it like that?

the lower elbow is a cast elbow on a 98 and it goes into the timing cover, if you pull to one side to hard you can break the timing cover.

it needs to be wiggled off, side to side with light pulling. after its out, you steal the large O ring off the extra elbow in the kit and put it on the cast elbow.

and you didnt really need to unbolt the alt bracket, just break the top elbow and pull the lim off.
