Bought a new phone

TheOtherNick

The mod from over yonder
Well I was due for a new phone so I started looking around. I decided I wanted a smart phone and went with a black berry pearl flip. I have had it for a few days and I am impressed. It does everything I want it to do and it can do more. The internet is almost as fast as my dsl and the big thing for me the buttons are not extremely small. Also I wont mash any buttons with it like I would with a non flip black berry. The few buttons on the outside have to be pressed fairly good to work not to hard, but just enough not to accidentally hit them. I would recommend this phone to any one who wants a smart phone. Plus it was free. $70 then a $70 rebate. I think they screw that up tho. I think it was supposed to be $139.99 and then a $70 dollar rebate. Here is a pic.

Glad you posted this!! I was actually looking into getting a new phone and was looking at that one...Only thing is the phone I have now is a full keyboard and Im worried im going to REALLY miss it!!! Do you txt? And if so is it easy to txt?

Yeah it is easy to text on. It has the qwerty keypad. With only two letters on each button. The predictive text actually works pretty well too if you use that kind of thing.

Ooooo the keyboard is like the reg. blackberry pearl. Did you look into the Storm by any chance? If so was there a reason you didn't get it?

My place does not carry it. Plus I wanted a flip phone for less pocket dialing when I forget to lock the keys.

i have the blackberry curve,i think its one of the most user friendly pda's.

I had a curve that I bought off of Ebay to see if I liked having a phone like that....needless to say that I loved it, so I went and got me a Bold, and I have to say that I can't be happier with it.

i just got rid of my blackberry pearl after having it only a month... i loved it at first, then it kept freezing up til the point of making me extremely mad... so i smashed it.

I have the Storm. After a little tweaking and OS update it works like a charm. Very versatile if you make the right use of it. What 01GTP said about pocket dialing is true though, so you have to be slightly careful - I ended up calling my ex-girlfriend international once. Ouch.

All you Blackberry guys should check out crackberry.com if you haven't already.

So I got my Storm rmm have had it for 3 days now...So far I like it. Gotta get use to the txting! But all in all I like it!

Ya I have 30 days to try this out but I was reading and it seems like the only thing different is Wifi....and well to me thats not a big deal

Not just WiFi. The touch screen is more responsive and has a proximity sensor, the processor is faster, the discrete switches below the screen are gone too. Also the Storm 2 shouldn't have the annoying screen unresponsiveness issue the Storm has.

All in all though, the Storm is great. The OS might freeze up on you, but you can upgrade to 5.0.0.230. Also, get an app called QuickPull v2 and run it whenever you feel your Storm is starting to run low. Essentially, it cleans up your phone's memory by simulating a battery pull. I run it once every 2 days to be safe.

You may also want to consider getting the Opera Mini browser, since it is significantly better than the BB browser. Also check out BBSAK (BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife). My personal favourite is CallsBlocker, where I store any telemarketer numbers and they go straight to voicemail :D.

You can check out crackberry for apps, themes and stuff.

Cheers!
