Bose to Aftermarket Headunit - precise

I am looking for a bit of a guide on how to hook up my aftermarket headunit. After extensive searching Ive only found vague explainations with little details, I did find a guide on the forum but it was so old that it was no longer available. I'll try to keep it precise.

02 GTP with Bose

My understanding is that I take the wires from the aftermarket headunit and connect them corresponding to color to the cars wires that were originally connected to the stock head unit.
When this is completed I will have 1 wire left over from the aftermarket deck. I will then cut the pink wire from the cars 2nd clip harness and connect it with the left over wire from the aftermarket deck.

Is this correct?

1) May I retain the cars original harness and just stick each wire from the HU into the matching recepticle on the original harness?
2) Is any other wiring required coming from the aftermarket head unit such as a ground or + or is it only the 16 pins?

Thanks all

I just picked up an ebay wiring harness that plugs into stock and wired that to new head unit. Then I think there was a purple wire had to power (it's the lead to stock amp) if not no sound from speakers. I put a double din in mine which took some dash modification.
