Bose system question

I recently purchased a 00 GP GT with the Bose stereo option. This is the first time I have owned a GP with this option and I am just wondering how good it really is. I know it has the upgraded speakers and the amp in the trunk but I plan on putting my 10'' Kicker comp sub and Pioneer deck in at some point and am wondering if the speakers are worth leaving in. I am leaning towards changing the door speakers and 6X9s but if the bose are good then I will just leave them. Please give feedback.

Bose system is rated Fair i guess. There is way better stuff out there. I will say this. I upgraded my head unit to the pioneer deh 80 prs single Din with 16 band eq and it really made the speakers come alive. I think i can be satisfied enough to add a sub and it can put out some fairly good sound. The problem with that bose system is that it uses an amp that noone has ever figured out the power ratings for and ohm resistance so if you change the speakers you have to change everything. The GOOD news is that if you change the speakers and the amp, The wiring has already been ran to the trunk it is thick enough to support some power. So i think the the bose system is a good upgrade even if you rip it all out because you still have the wiring ran from the doors to the trunk etc. Also if you are going to change the HU, make sure you get the axis steering wheel controls.

Yes I am changing the HU and I do have the thing for retaining steering wheel controls. So what you are saying is that I do not need to run my own wiring kit? I can just use the one that is already there?

Since you'll be keeping the speakers and the amp, the pink wire is the one to tie into your aftermarket deck so you can retain use of the bose amp.

Bose system is very good IMO... Since your asking this question you probably dont know anything about high end speakers. The bose will sound better then anything you would buy, I would leave them in there. They sound awesome with a aftermarket deck

I disagree, a even half ass aftermarket system would blow away a bose system. In terms of SQ and loudness.

Wrong

There's tons of aftermarket speakers that can sound way better

Leave the Bose speakers and amp in there and save your money. There's nothing wrong with them. Just an aftermarket h.u. will make a huge difference.
