Borla muffs on the GXP

Well I'm sick of the car being quiet. I wondered what size the stock tailpipe is? Also is anyone running the Borla XR-1 race mufflers? If so how loud are they in the car idling or under a load?

I've Youtube'd a few V8 cars with them...and I've heard the Magnaflow catback's on the GXP's and they are too quiet for me. I'd suggest a catless DP to start...or Doug Thorley Headers...they would really wake the car up and still make a noise difference...and would yield way better performance gains vs. a catback since the GM WBody exhaust system's flow really well stock.

I am just looking to make some more noise(not looking for anyperformance gains at all to be honest), I like the way the car drives, I also think with making the car faster I will end up with tickets and I don't want to put a bunch of money into it. I have an 88 GMC prodject truck that will be getting the love, the GXP runs and drives great so I dont want to change that

The mods he suggested will also change the tone of the exhaust. A cat is restrictive, removing that can enhance the exhaust note quite a bit and help out those borla mufflers. Your best bet to make it louder and mean sounding would be headers and a full catback exhaust.

For a slightly louder exhaust, those mufflers alone will be good, but mufflers alone may be a little raspy or high noted instead of a deep throaty sound. To change that, replace your resonator with a glasspack, they're cheap and they help out quite a bit.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but i'm sure everyone will appreciate this if it has been found.... Any videos or clips of an XR-1 Muffler on an ls4?? I had a set of these on my 96 LT1 and it was the best I had ever heard without a doubt! No drone either, it was pure music to my ears
