Boost gauge light not shutting off..

I've been attempting to hook up the light on my boost gauge for months now trying everything I can think off. Finally I broke down and bought a fuse tap and wired in power from the radio fuse that's all good next I grounded the gauge and the light works great but it won't shut off. I've tried everything and I can't get it to shut off so I've been just plugging in the ground at night and unhooking it when I shut the car off. Very cheap and cheesy and I'm sick of it. Any suggestions guys??

Btw I have an 04 comp g

That's odd because it should shut off once the radio shuts off. You could go to radio shack and buy a switch and splice it into the power wire for the gauge. Then you can shut the light off any time. Or you can skip that and tap into the fuse that turns the interior lights on when it gets to dark.

Figured it out. Tapped into yellow wire in in the plug under the Fuse block.

It's been about 3 months, hopefully everything's still good for you. From what I know, those YELLOW wires are for the airbags & sh1t. I, personally, would stay far away from those wires. I'm always terrified to even brush up against any of those wires while doing any type of work in any area where those wires are present. I'm currently looking to connect up lighting for a newly installed mechanical boost gauge. I've been monitoring the boost for years with an electronic Scan Guage II mounted behind the steering wheel...

why didn't you tap into the panel dimmer switch output? then the light will be off when your headlights are off and you can control the brightness with your other panel lights.

Actually, I think I know which yellow wire he was talking about. He said fuse box, but if you open the driver's side door & look on the side of the steering wheel, there's a panel that pops out. You can unplug the wiring harness & tap into the 2nd yellow wire from the right on the top row of wires. That won't allow you to dim it but it will behave EXACTLY as the headlights do. Even when you use your keyless entry to lock & chirp the stock alarm, the boost gauge will light up in sequence with that. Pretty cool :) You can use the 13 mm bolt back there that bolts into the chassis as a ground post. Just loosen it up, strip a wire & loop it around the bolt then tighten it back up. Lol I was out of electrical wiring so I just used some 16 gauge speaker wire for the project ;D

Maybe it was 14 gauge... I don't remember. Seemed pretty stout. Plus I had had a few beers & it was like 3 in the morning & I had work at 10am the next day :D
