blue-top Optima



IMHO Optima made a name for them selves, now they make crap. Ya I’m sure a blue top would work. But the red or yellow tops normally go into cars, red is standard and a yellow would be suited for large electrical loads like aftermarket sound systems.

The question you really want to ask your self is do I want spend a $100 on the incorrect and more than likely a POS battery. Or get a regular size 34 battery for about $70 that will come with a warranty.:th_scratchhead:
 
I have to agree I just bought a duralast gold battery from autozone that has an 8 yr warranty and it is a stronger battery than the red top as well as cheaper. I've had optimas in all my cars but I don't think they are as strong as they claim. This duralast has more reserve time and cold cranking amps.

I have a red top under the hood for starting and that's about it, never gave me any problems... sits at 13.4v after about a week of my car just sitting in the driveway.

Easy upgrade is to do the Big 3 if you're interested, it will help keep any battery at a higher resting voltage.
 
I did the big 3. And with the duralast I'm getting 14v and mines been sitting also. If ur gonna buy an optima go yellow top or don't get one its not worth it.
