Blue smoke out exhaust

Well she still smokes.

You say Supercharger oil does NOT burn correct? So I can rule out the supercharger with that statement?

If so I guess Ill go with doing valve seals. Should I purchase them from ZZP along with new retainers? What springs should I upgrade to if I decide to run 1.8 or 1.9 roller rockers in the future? I wont be doing a cam.

How hard is this for a DIY job? I would like to tackle it on my own.

I would go with the ls6 springs if you just want to go with rockers. You can get the valve seals where ever just get the viton ones. To do the springs and rockers it is not that hard. You need a valve spring compressor and a tool to fill the cylinder with air to hold the valve up. You will also need some assembly lube and new rocker bolts. Just get the reusable bolts for like $3 more in case you ever have to do it again.

Why do you reccommend LS6 springs? Just curious. Will they dramatically decrease the life of me timing chain dampener? What retainers do i use with these?

Or should I just stick with stock and get 1.8 rockers?

Also, whats the easiest way to find top dead center on these engines?

Thanks guys

The ls6 springs are the 90# springs that are needed for rockers. Any of the retainers that are designed for the ls springs will work. You dont need to put the engine at top dead center when you will the cylinder with air it will close the valves. Just take out all the spark plugs so the air can turn it over easy.

Just curious . How would bad vc gaskets cause a motor to burn oil out the exhaust?

Because it'll leak down and most of the time (and I've seen it on a couple GP's and MANY other cars, especially Honda's) get into the manifold through whatever small space you can't see or won't leak any air and burn up in there causing it to expel through the exhaust out the back of the car...just my experience with them.

What rockers can I run on stock springs?

1.84:1 Roller's. Probably your best bet will be from Yella Terra.

You can however run modded 1.90:1 Rockers from ZZPerformance but for about the same price, get the 1.84:1's...as Roller's are more rev friendly and cause less wear on the valvetrain. Not sure where you can get 1.84's anymore though, but you can get 1.8:1's from Intense Racing.

You might however send them an e-mail asking if you can still get them elsewhere, or e-mail Yella Terra themselves...I used to have YT 1.84:1's but sold them for my cam swap...which are now in gtpsleeper's car.

ZZP sells yella terra 1.84 roller rockers. They come with push rods and pedestals. Can you change the push rods without removing the LIM?

Yes...I did...you just have to work around it and remove the valve covers...I did it in a few hours.

Well I hope its the valve seals. How often do rings go bad on a stock engine? Like I said it only has 91,000 miles.

Okay so now its smoking considerbly more at idle when its fully warmed up. It wont blow smoke under hard acceleration though.

Still leaning towards valve seals. What about you guys?

I got the from 6 seals done. Need to do the back but have no time. Hopefully I have a bad seal somewhere so I can get rid of this problem.

Did the back seals and so far see no smoke!

Thanks guys!

Ill pay close attention the next few days just to make sure.

damn wish i saw this earlier, glad it was valve seals and not blowby from a piston ring (had that happen, was not fun)
