Blowing MAF Fuse, SES Light, P0102

2000GTP

been trying to figure this out for a while. started off that the car had a p0102 code. i replaced the maf. didnt fix the problem. found out that it was blowing fuse 21 which the maf is a part of, replaced it, it blew a couple more times. i brought it to my mechanic. he cleared the codes. took it for a ride and everthing was fine. now it popped the fuse again. it might have been throwing some other codes but im not really sure. one i think was the EVAP Purge, i think there was one for the 02 sensor. im thinking theres an electrical short SOMEWHERE! somebody help i cant figure this **** out!!!!

I'm going through the same frustrating mess.

Randomly as I drive the MAF will read 0Hz which sets off check engine light, a few seconds later to returns to normal reading.

I don't know what's going on.

I've even tried routing a dedicated 12v and ground to the MAF connector. Same result.

What's your status??

My 98 Regal GS is doing the same thing. I had a P0102 code for MAF. I replaced it and nothing changed. My car also threw a P1665 code that I was told that means a EVAP purge code. Did you ever figure out your problem? I need help with this. Thanks

i know a couple guys that work at the Buick pontiac gmc dealer that is a sister store to where i work. i will talk to them and see if i can get some info on this issue that you both have.

I fixed it!!!!! It was a blown fuse in the underhood fusebox. I don't remeber the # but I will check it out and post on here. I saw another post that said to check fuse #21 but in my 98 Regal GS supercharged it wasn't mini fuse #21. Have to run, but will post it on her later. Unbelievable that all of my problems were caused by a freaking blown fuse. So there wasn't any power going to the mass air sensor and the Evap purge valve. That is why the computer threw those 2 codes. Yeeeehaaaawww. I can get a smog check now. These forums lead me to the cure, almost. Well, it got me close enough to figure it out. God Bless u guys. Dude my car runs so good now and it even gets more boost too. Was only boosting to like 3.6 and now it goes to 6. SWEEEETTTT.

yea but we swapped the fuse on jeffs car and it blew again, as well as the code came back after i cleared it. i think theres a short somewhere, let us know if the fuse blows again

i had a major short a while back, mice chewed like 10 pcm wires and they were all touching each other:th_laugh-lol2: still ran surprisingly

How long did it take to blow the fuse again?

not long, it varied a lil, once right after a 5 minute drive, once after a startup, once after a 45 minute drive. hopefully gettin the problem figured out next week when i bring it into the shop for the meth, and tuning and ****

Good luck with it man. Can you explain to me what Meth injection is? Thanks

Fixed mine, performed an ohms test from MAF signal cable to the PCM pin, couldn't get a constant reading on it.

Spliced in a new wire off the wire that runs out of the harness directly to the connector. All is good!

Congrats on fixing it. Could you be a little more specific on where exactly you spliced the wire? You made a new wire all the way from the PCM to the MAF? Thanks

Using this diagram..

Looking down at your PCM, disconnect the top wiring harness.
Remove gray plastic clip, just squeeze the sides and pull off.
From there you can unbolt the adapter from the PCM and pull it out.
There you will have access to the pins.
Look for the pin labeled "69". It will be between another yellow and blue wire.

Use a multimeter and set to ohms resistance.
Disconnect MAF connector and probe yellow wire from MAF connector to pin 69.
Try moving the connector and harness while you test to see if ohm reading changes, anything below 5ohms constant should be good, in my case when I moved the connector it spiked to over 100 and would fluctuate.

I cut the yellow wire on the outside of the harness. leaving about 2 inches from PCM harness and routed a new wire up to MAF connector.

You need to check the wiring for those circuits. THe maf ,evap,02 sensors share the same 12v source wire. I would check the pink wire in the harness and see if the wire is chaffed and touching a grounding out on the engine somewhere.:th_thumbsup-wink:
