block heater



...never?

i live in wisconsin and it's cold as crap outside. my car starts up and runs fine everytime.
 
It really depends on the car. My jeep never liked to start in the winter. The GTP has no problems. Having a heater can never hurt. It will heat up the oil and let it flow better on start up. It will also help your car warm up faster. The gains are minimal tho, there really is no need for one, but if you allready have one you might as well use it. I would say use it when the temp is below 30 if you have one.
 
My car has started fine all the way down to 9* F. No block heater. I have no doubt it would do fine even colder.
 
someone mentioned there is a sensor on all new GM's that prevents the block heater from working until its -18c or colder
 


The colder it gets, the thicker diesel gets. And eventually it just solidifies into a lovely gel. Gel over your diesel, you fail.:th_king-evil:
