Black guard over battery

Anbody know how to remove the black metal guard over the battery completely (I have gotten the bolts removed but there is something else holding it onto the car and can't figure out how to get it free from that).

Picture? Not forsure what guard ur referring to unless its the black metal cross member bar? If it is that cross bar then once u take bolts off it'll pull up. If all 4 bolts are out and it still no come off...hammer

Yup the cross bar. Take out all 4 of the screws that hold it in place. Then get a rubber mallet or a regular hammer and piece of wood and bang on the underside carefully. It should pop up. Odds are its rusted in place.

Once the bar is out (3 13mm bolts BTW) Rusted in place..Marine..you gotta work on your car more often. lol

Then look straight down between the battery cables. There's one more 13mm holding the er uh..hold down on the battery. Once that 8 mile bolt is out..you should have no trouble.

Lol mine was where the paint had been scrapped off. But I repainted it so I don't have that problem. And he said he took the bolts off so I'm only assuming that could be the only other thing keeping the cross member in place...what else could it possibly be

Dunno, I read it as he got the cross bar off, but not the battery. Meaning something else (aka battery tie down) was holding the battery in.

I guess we both read it different ways. The pics since he took of both sides of engine I figured he was referring to the cross bar

Dunno. What I can tell you is my translator is usually pretty much on target. Which is why I have the problem solving reputation that I do. :th_laugh-lol3:

Haha, well I believe that's what it is...there are three bolts holding it down, but then there is a plastic cone looking thing sticking up through the cross member and that is what i'm having trouble with

Your description confuses me.

Three 13mm bolts hold the strut brace to the body. Then you have one 13mm bolt securing the plastic hold down. After that you have two 8mm battery cable bolts.

Hanging my head in shame as I was pretty sure the wire loom clip wouldn't hold you up. Needlenose and squeeze or just unclip and release the harness .
