• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

bigburban's silver 99 gtp coupe

I found a motor in pa, hopefully I can get it in the next week or so.

Either way I need to really think if I want to swap the cam and heads over, but I am pretty sure if I put a motor in this it will be all stock other than a hai.

If it were me, I would get the motor, tear it down, inspect the pistons and if everything looks good swap everything over, put on all new gaskets and get a proper tune so it doesn't happen again, then call it a day.

You don't know anything about the motor, so a proper inspection is key anyways, so why not do it right while its apart.

well I found another one in jersey. 90k miles, everything included for 600. apparently its a wrecked car, but it still runs. So I would bring my scan tool and verify that everything is good before I bought it. At this point, I don't want to have too much money invested in this, so I figure I could part out the good remaining stuff from the old motor, sell the cam and headers and come out even more or less. Also, being stock motor wise would make it easier to sell in the future.

rear drums? wheel cylinder most likely, relatively simple and easy fix.

at least it didn't result in a crash, could have been alot worse.

wish it was that easy. The retaining pin came off/broke on one of the shoes. bascially, it bent the piss out of the backing plate. I have to pull the axle shaft out.

Oh snap. I had a similar issue on my 79 Mustang many years ago. I was driving and everything was fine then *tink* GRINDNOMNOMGRINDNOMNOMGRIND.... oh ****.

Luckily I knew a guy who owned a salvage yard, so I got replacement parts off a old GT and had it back together over the weekend.

Well, got the new motor yesterday and got it in and installed today. Runs great. Still have a few small things to do before i can start dd'ing it but at least it runs! Lol

i soaked the engine with simple green, then used an air hose with an attatchment that will spray water under pressure to clean everythnig off. when it finally dried, i uses regular tire shine on it.
