• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

whats up with the gnomes??

well Geddylee will have to chim in and give you the ole Gnome story!

Awh yes :) In the planning of the first ever Branson Grand Prix Meet back in Oct of 2006, Kevin Kelly and myself were doing a little BBQ'ing at my place and takin' in a few beers when we came up with the idea of having a "mascot" for the BGPM. We were torn on what type of Mascot we wanted to represent the meet. So we kept thinking, drinking and grillin till we saw these lawn gnomes in this little garden area at the back of my apartment the old lady beneath me kept. Kevin said hey lets steal one of these and make it the Mascot!

And then as sure as anything the old lady comes downstairs to see what we were up to. Of course having a few beers in me, I told the old lady pointblank we were going to steal one of her garden gnomes to use as our Mascot for our upcoming BGPM. She laughed and said I didnt need to steal one. She went into her side of the garage and picked out this brand new garden gnome she was not using. She said we could have it.

And thus the birth of the Branson Grand Prix Meet Gnome came to be.

We were not quite sure how big of a hit it would be at the meet, but we thought it would be fun to take pictures of the gnome along our path to Branson and at the meet itself. Low and behold it become quite the talking piece at Branson. Everyone was wanting a piece of the gnome.

Here are some of the highlights of the gnome in the first year.

The Gnome was a camera hog for sure!

Ugh! I could not post any more pictures in that last message. Anyways the Gnome sensation started kicking into high gear the following year. More people started getting into the "gnome spirit" of the BGPM.

Here are few of them from the 2007 BGPM.

And then in 2008 more folks got into the spirit! There was even a kidnapping of the gnomes by Babyblue and some of the KC peeps! And ransoms were demanded or else!!

I am sure Mystie can add more pictures than I have on that topic ;)

Sorry I dont have anymore from 2008. I never got to many chances to have fun with the gnomes this time around. But as I said before, Mystie I am sure has some she can post up as well :)

But there you have history of the Branson Grand Prix Meet Gnome through the years! I sincerely hope more folks will get into the spirit of it. Its a simple thing and it can be quite fun as well. I might even suggest a Best Gnome contest for this year.

Anyways I hope you enjoyed! It sure brought back fond memories for me!!!

I may have to bring a Gnome this year.

BTW, where in the hell does a guy get a Gnome at? I never really shopped for one before...
