• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

BGPM 2008, Sept. 4th - 6th

OK, I'll "hold" them for ya! :D
I'll drive it like I stole it!

You better, cuz you'd have too. ;):th_policelights:

I doubt my Cutlass will be twin-charged by then since it just took me a month and a half to to an oil change on our Trailblazer lol, but who knows.
There are those of us that thank you greatly for that fact Dave! Thanks for fitting my trans. build in. Hope the Cutlass makes it there, I have a special place for them (have to see if my mother has any pics of my old white one, rest got tossed by my ex years ago:().

The first year there we had 9 people I think that set a PB. The track and weather was perfect. Last year, the rain was looming and the humidity was up, and I dont think anyone but GTPluv (Lorri) hit a PB, but thats only because it was her first time out on a track.

This year I will be getting with a few local Indian tribes and get them to do an anti rain dance.
I'm hoping for a PB this year as well. Doubt I'll have DRs, but if I do run it will be babied and no...:NOS1: Probably... Not that it matters since I'm not gonna run.

I'm not scared...I'm going all out. If everything goes well by then I will have a new engine to go along with my Triple Edge Transmission.

Pretty sure QTP's would fall into the slick category. ;)

Going to be for sure interesting this year at the track. Cant wait to watch ya all. And then...in a few years from now...I'll trailer something extra to the event to play around with there. Just like tranny man...it will be twin charged as well. :th_king-normal:

Yep QTPs are slicks, no way around it. If you want the stickiest street tire out there then trust me, get the MT street radials They are their drag radial and work almost as good as a slick. I netted many mid to low 1.6 60's with my cutlass with this tire and has claimed many of the fastest street tire times in the nation, well in the rwd world that is. I managed to get 1.80-ish 60's in our old prix with those tires. They are the next best thing to a slick and have good street manors though many claim they are worthless in the rain I never had trouble with them. They dont last long though and have a 0 for treadwear rating. I put about 2000 street miles on mine on our old prix and they still had more than half their life left and I used them at the track numorous times and street raced very often with them.

I hate being told 'no' to anything, so I emailed Wes at the track. Here is the convo:

QTP’s will work. Thanks,
Wes

Subject: drag radials vs slicks
Hello there - -
I will be attending the Branson Grand Prix Meet, and one of the days of this meet includes racing at your facility. As racers, we were told by the event organizers that since we will be running the ¼ mile, that drag radials are allowed, but slicks are not.
There seems to be some confusion as to what is considered a drag radial and what is considered a slick. I always had the understanding that if a tire had a DOT rating, it could be considered a drag radial. Is this true?
I was hoping to post a personal best on the day that our group will be at your track, and I already have a set of Hoosier QTP’s. I unfortunately can not afford to go out and buy another set of tires just to race the weekend of the meet.
Hoosier QTP’s are DOT rated. Will they be allowed for use by our group at your track the day of our meet? I believe the track day is September 5th.
Thanks for any light you can shed!

Can I get a muddafuppin HELLLLLLLLLL YEAH?! :D

Damn that is sweeeet!!! QTPs are my sticky tire of choice for the prixs as they seem to grab a little better than the MT ET Streets-Slicks. DOT or not, they are a slick and I am shocked that they are allowing them!

:-D BGPM will be my first TRUE test of the trans you built for me Dave. I have yet to hit the juice yet or anything since having you do the trans.

Probably gonna do a test run or two a few weeks before BGPM, but I will not 'don' the QTP's until we get to the track. :-D WOOT.

Well that is AWSOME news....thanks for sharing that, and thanks for getting with Wes...He is a great guy to work with.

Are most of you guys arriving wednesday night? I will be in Branson all week, but my plans were to stay at the Fall Creek Inn on wednesday night thursday night friday night and saturday night. Is anybody else going to be in town Wednesday night, or are most waiting until thursday?

I'm planning on leaving here Wednesday afternoon in a group of GP's and taking our time getting there, and arriving early/mid evening and spending the whole day Thursday doing our own thing on our own.
