Best Wheel Bearing?

a lot of times these fail from installer error, not because the bearings are bad. they're all the same old china crap anyway.

Personally I would like to know more about Wheel Bearings, inc. ZZP says they are the best on the market but I don't know what their evidence is for that. They are USA made but are more expensive than anything else.

My experience is that I had all of my stock Delco bearings go out at 40k miles, I was in a pinch and replaced them with autozone specials which didn't last a year. Since then they have been replaced with SKF and they are going out in less than a year as well and SKF customer service will not respond to my warranty claim. I hesitate to buy Timken because they are foreign made and I don't see them being any better than SKF or Delco. I never even considered Moog because they are made by National bearing, and National has not had the best reputation in the past. I would consider then now though since they are the only ones with a 3 year warranty.

My biggest question is why do these cars go through hub units so fast? I have owned a lot of cars, including a Buick Reatta that I put 200k miles on, that I autocrossed and drove like I stole it. I have never replaced a hub unit on any other vehicle but this Grand Prix, and it is getting ready for its 4th set.

why would skf reply? your warranty is at the store you bought the hub from. you keep those receipts for the 3 years as proof of the purchase.

you should see how many new receipts are now stapled to my timken hub receipt now. ive warrantied it like 3 times so far. just keeps getting thicker.

not even a delco hub is better then what the car came with from the factory. why idk, but that goes for brake pads too, no set of pads will last as long as the ones the car comes with new from the factory.

well theres one more reason to buy hubs local. its as easy as take your bad hub off, hand it to the guy at the counter and they give you a shinny new one, unlimited for 3 years.

That would be nice if any of our local stores kept anything in stock besides their store brand. Everything has to be ordered, either by them or me, might as well get it cheaper. Even if it were that way, I find it unacceptable to have to do this maintenance so often, regardless of the parts availability.

its not just w body hubs. my 03 gmc 4x4 ate front hubs for dinner. iirc i went through 4 pairs during the original factory warranty, so with in 100,000 miles. and the front end was replaced 3 times. and the head gaskets, and the tranny and t case and the rear was rebuilt.

and i loved that damn truck......
