Best sounding exhaust tips?

The VQ out of the Nissan/Infiniti's is the best sounding V6 out there...no 3800 can top it. Now you want to get to really good sounding? RB series motors or 2JZGTE's. That would be Skyline/Supra. Sure...it doesn't sound like a V8...but they have their own uniqueness. Everyone has their own thing. And Poli...as for those tips...they are actually a clearanced Roush tip from about 2 years ago. Not sure if they are still for sale and I haven't looked. I paid like $40 a side plus shipping on each one since they weren't sold as a set. They were 3" Roush Racing Dual/Dual Rolled Edge Tips...if I remember right they were supposed to go on the Lincoln LS at one point whe it was still being made.

yeah, i looked for those tips and couldn't find them. i've been looking for something that style for awhile now, the problem is they're expensive and i need two of them. not college student friendly lol

I agree with bluegtp91, it comes down to opinion SnowDrift. You sound like you're trying to push your opinion on what a good sounding exhaust should sound like a little past what other people want to hear. I try to keep an open mind. Each car's engine is a different size and every exhaust will sound different. For me it comes down to how "good" you can make the exhaust sound on that particular car. I just want to get rid of my black cow bell tips lol. They look like air horns to me. Even if tips don't make a difference in sound... :th_depressed:

Perhaps I misunderstood the original post that seemed to be asking for an opinion. My opinion, as I stated, was to keep it as quiet as possible, like I mentioned in my last post. Although I think the tips will do little if anything for performance or sound at all.

I agree with SilvaMan, as well, that it should not bring down performance. Together, we have assembled two opinions and neither of us will be bothered by whichever decision you come to. :)

Best to you in your search for tips.:th_thumbsup-wink:

I'm glad my tips are back on. Took the opprotunity to look for exhaust leaks and found them and fixed them.

So my headers still leak but just the headers now. Much quieter.

Summary: tips project the sound PAST the rear bumper so it doesnt sound as loud in the cabin.

Same volume and sound outside the car, just inside makes a difference.

Your muffler/resonator choice will make up 99% of the difference in sound unless you go tipless.
