Best oil filter?

Oh and how long would it take for the seal to blow after I did my oil? It's been almost 1 week since I changed it.

if its not blown out leave it alone. when you take it off tho put your filter wrench all the way to the top of the filter, as that is the only solid metal part, that top 1/4 inch of the filter.

if you use the middle of the filter it will crush and leak and not come off.

Well it doesn't need to be removed yet so I'll pass. I read sticking a low profile object, like a razor blade, in between the gasket and the block to break the seal. I'm not gonna stress it until it starts leaking. Probably not the smartest idea, but I highly doubt the oil will all leak out in 30 seconds so I'll just check it every time I drive just to make sure it isn't leaking.

Would it have blown by now? Or does the pressure need to build up for a while before it goes.
 
if its on there a week its fine. leave it along,


and for the record never stab it with a screw driver, that never works well for any one. its a huge fail.

the best are the pliers type you grip that top part where the seal is and it always comes off with ease.

I'll probably have to buy one of those before I change it 3000 miles later. I'll just periodically check for leaks around the seal and if it's leaking, change it.

When i change the oil, i tighten it as much as possible with hand, fill 1/2 with oil, put oil around the top, then give it a 1/4-1/2 turn extra. The k&n filters have a nut on the end so easy on, easy off..I still use the oil wrench from habit, more than how much easier it is to use a socket, its just as quick, I just wanted a nice oil filter.
 
Just stick a screw driver through the side and twist. Its pretty much how I've gotten every one off that went through a quick lube. And tightening, I've always took it 1/2-3/4 turn past the point that the rubber first meets the metal seat. Never had a leak and it always comes off easy.
