Best oil filter?

SubwayGuy

Who is this guy?
I'll be changing my oil for the first time myself. I'm just gonna buy the conventional Mobil Super 10W-30. What is the best and fairly cheapest oil filter you guys have had luck with in the past? Are there any filters to avoid? Thanks.

I've heard good things about Wix. I dont have the part number off hand, but I am sure if you go to a parts store they should be able to get you the correct one.

most of the time i see oil on sale with a filter and buy that, most of the time it comes with a Purolator filter. this last oil change they had a delco filter cheap. (not on sale) so i got that one.

theres two types of Purolator filter. the normal one, and one with a P in front of the part #. a P1 Purolator iirc both work fine. i use whatever one is in stock.

Yeah the website has both. I can imagine the PL one is more $$$ than the L. I'm cheap lolololololol.

I used a k&n filter cause it was free with oil. And 7 buck MiR. Got one for a 99 bronco or something I forget, but its about inch and half longer.

Bosch, Purolator 1, Wix, are all good for the money. With Mobile and K&N you start paying less for quality and more for the name IMHO.

I bought the Wix. They didn't have Purolator and there were Fram (sh*t), Mobil, and Bosch. Wix seemed the best.

I don't know if it is still the truth but at one time Mobil 1 filter and K&N oil filter were the same filters with different casings.

I always use NAPA filters which I think are made by wix?

Yes NAPA filters are Wix. Wix themselves only have 2 types of filters but since NAPA has dealt with WIX for a very long time, they make multiple styles for them. ProSelect, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. I always get 1040MP which is Gold and I get the MP (Master Pack) because it's a dollar cheaper due to the fact that it's wrapped in plastic vs being boxed.
