Best iPod adapter

I was wondering what everyone uses for an iPod adapter. I really don't want to spend all the money for the PAC iPod Connection Interface. I tried a Belkin one that sends the signal over the radio. Just wondering what everyone uses for adapters and mounts.

i have tried multiple fm transmitters, and they all pretty much suck. i ended up just dropping about 400 bucks on a new HU that came with a direct iPod connection. its so worth the money to me not to have to put up with the stupid fm transmitter. plus, the sound quality is 10x better..........

yeah i just paid 150 for a HU with usb connection in front.. pioneer set this HU up just for the ipod really.. i'd suggest getting pioneer if you want to control the ipod from the hu.. theres basically no lag.

you cant run an aux wire?

I use a remote cassette deck from a Malibu or S10. Splice RCA's or headphone cable into the L,R and common on the harness running from cassette to HU. Toss a cassette in the player and stash it in your center console. I found this on another forum that I am not sure if we can name here.

I saw that same write-up

Do you really have to crank of the volume on the radio while tape/ipod is playing or is the sound comparable to when you are playing a normal cd player?

CDA-9887 :D

Best sound would be from an adapter that plugs to digital interface on bottom of iPod and gives you RCA connections on the other end. Use those RCA's to an auxillary adapter to your stereo. Best sound you'll get.

I ended up getting a cassette adapter and a mount that I can mount right over my temp gauge. I also have a car charger for my ipod that is small enough that when I plug it in the cig lighter I can close it. I run all my wires in the space between the radio and the dash. You really don't see any wires and it looks pretty good. All together it probably cost me around $50 but it was cheaper than anything else and looks better IMO.
