Best Cam for e85

so I was looking at making some repairs and upgrades to my drivetrain figured while I was in there I should upgrade something first was looking at roller rockers but I am leaning towards a cam and just upgrading spring and replacing anything damaged would like to swap to e85 next summer so I wasnt sure what kind of cam I should be looking at

E85 means a buttload of timing and a dumbsized pulley...you'd be wanting a cam that can flow pretty well...look into something that eats up boost like a NIC cam.

alright exactly the info I was looking for blue.

Aside for the cam I was going with 105# springs and replacing anything worn with stocker pushrods/lifters
should either be upgraded?

also have someone local selling an instense racing cam for 100$ its the S1x

is there a reference as far as which stage compares to which cam xp xpz nic

also any opinions on intense cams? looking over everything it said it would trip a missfire code that should be tuned off but that the car would run fine before a tune with the new cam

CAM-671 - INTENSE™ Stage 1X Blower Cam, duration @ .050": 210/221, lobe lifts: .321"/.329", valve lifts with 1.60:1 rocker arms: .514"/.526", lobe separation angle: 115, intake centerline: 111

VS Cam details

  • 206/216 at .050"
  • Intake Lift .320" (.512" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
  • Exhaust Lift .317" (.507" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
  • 115 LSA

seems like the intense stage one is right in between a xp and vs cam but I understand little about the lifts
  • guess what i'm asking is what specification makes the NIC preferable so I know what to look for from other manufacturers

Any cam will suffice. How much power are you wanting to make?

would like to keep it under 300 until I get a built or backup trans but I dont see that as being a problem until after the injector conversion for corn
not really dropping pulley sizes past a 3.4 even with the cam than ideally next spring drop in injectors and gen V

you don't want a cam that eats up boost. with e85 you can actually USE the boost and timing so running a NIC would just run you out of pulley options in a hurry.

unless you want to go with the heads/big cam setup then stick with the traditional vs/xp/s1x stock heads setup and run with it. the e85 is going to give you much more gain than you think.

xp would be my choice...

vs not enough revs to be useful if camming, might as well just do rockers and head porting if combining with the corn fuel.

didn't tengis say once he was making mid/high 300's with a NIC and E85.

Pretty simple and cheap if you ask me.

He did.
