• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Best bang for buck?

Basically a top swap, in a nut shell is to put the GTP(L67) intake/heads on a GT(L36) Bottom end.

And when you hit the limiter, the engine cuts all power, and it feels like it dies.

that's what a lot of the people do, and it's also the cheapest way to do it. shop around to find the best stuff. some companies sell kits i think, but they'll be expensive. there's also a for sale section on this site that could help you

hahaha would there be any benefit to instead of swapping the motor, just supercharging the engine? Or is a full engine swap better?

Well, you will have a higher compression ratio with the Top Swap, plus it's a good time to mod the heads, but it's all basically time/money as to what you do.

you have higher compression with the top swapped L36, meaning you can make more horsepower with less boost. if you're not shooting for 11's or something like that, then swapping the motor would be less of a mechanical headache and you'd still get the fun factor. headers, colder plugs, an intake, and a good tune would probably have you close to mid-13's pretty safely.

1/4 mile times. Stock GTP's are a 15Second car pretty much. Anything in the 13's is good, 12's or faster are Fast GTP's.

GT's are quite a bit slower in the 1/4 mile.

you're at about 16 seconds right now in your gt. gtp's run mid-14's, about 14.3 with a great launch and a 14.8 with a not so great launch. for comparison, a mustang gt will run right around a 14 flat, the same with a v8 camaro

aaahh that makes sense. Soooo how fast can you get a GT exactly, without completely raping your bank account anyway ahahah

lol not very far. i've heard rumors of zzp using basically every part they make with a 3800 and kept it naturally aspirated (not super- or turbocharged) and don't think they made it to 13's. maybe 280 hp.

KR stands for knock retard. i'll find the link for that too, but basically it's when the air/fuel mix in your cylinder explodes before the spark plug ignites, forcing down on the piston while it's still going up. it's what kills motors.

Yeah, modding a GT wont get it very fast. Although you can get a HV3 Insert
ZZ Performance
as a good mod for the GT.

GT's are more for fun, cheap driving.

GTP's are money pits that take premium gas =[ But are pretty fun too XD

KR is the enemy of engines basically.

You just did.
Basically if you wanna have a car that you dont have to worry about much, and still have fun, keep it N/A with some mods.

If you wanna go faster, and are willing to put up with some headaches, go supercharged.

But your best bet is to read/research everything.

So wait, what would it get with super or turbo exactly? just curious.
