Best Aftermarket Headunit?

So I wanna get an aftermarket headunit for my 98GTP and I have no idea what to get, what is the best head unit (not super expensive) but looks good in the car and still good quality. Im mainly just looking for a CD player and radio and maybe something with a bigger display than usual.

Thanks!:th_winking:

(not super expensive)

Just to bust your balls, that's an awful way to phrase your budget. Use a dollar sign and some numbers and it'll be a lot easier to help you.

Just in case it hadn't occurred to you, why not check out Crutchfield? They have a good tool for buying hardware, and their prices are probably 10-15% more expensive than Amazon.com, so you'll never be over budget.

Your best bet will be to narrow down some of the things you require from it.

Preouts
Seperate bass controls
Touchscreen
DVD
Nav
HD radio
Satelite radio
Backup camera ability
iPod connectivity

There's so much to choose from today that you can get a lot of great stuff for relatively low cost. I have a Pioneer PT3200-BT that I love. It fits my needs extremely well and to me it was low cost.

Also another thing to look at is if you want to keep your steering wheel controls or not. That is the big deciding factor am still fighting with. If I want to I have to go with a smaller touchscreen to stay aroun the same price. However, If I get rid of them then I dont have to worry but I loose all functionality of the buttons on the steering wheel... Hmm tough choice

HU, steering wheel controls, mounting kit all together were $450 shipped.

a buddy is selling the non BT version of my radio here for cheap though. He literally put it in to see it and took it out because he's got a special dash.

crap..running a rpocess that keeps swallowing up the link.. I'll add it later.

Thats actually not horrible. Im looking at putting a HU in for $300 and coming back and doing steering wheel controls later if necessary or if I miss them.

you may miss your controls at first but most aftermarket stereos come with remotes nowadays anyway so i guess which one you would rather use.

Alpine CDA-117 with imprint and the tuning kit. perfect combo, or wait for a bit cause alpine is coming out with a new dsp soon here.
