Beat an 04 GTO

What would it take to beat an 04 gto M6 (stock) from 0 to 90? The top end on the car would win regardless without heavy mods (im assuming)

Would the classic mods that bring you up to up to the 3.4 pulley(pulley, cai, dp, pcm) give it a run for its money?

I asked this on ls1gto.com and they told me to unplug some of his spark plug cables.... So as you can see they werent really serious about this question.

from JUST 0-90 you'd need at least 3.4" pulley, headers, damn good custom tuned PCM, CAI, AL104s, open exhaust system, and a bit of weight reduction to hang with it up to that speed. adding rockers or some other means of a power adder like nitrous and/or alky to add more timing gives u a better fighting chance. and lastly is the launch, if u can beat him on the launch and hold your ground up to 90mph, its possible but you're basically the underdog and probability of beating him is very small with a 3.4" pulley+mods.

Beat one that had an auto,bbk intake manifold,cold air intake,hooker headers with exhaust and tuned....was pulling on him pretty good.Mods in sig. SAID he ran 12.5 at the track with slicks but i dont belive him because theres no way im even that fast without slicks.


Like street wolf said they arent anything special. Raced a stock one the other day...stock exhaust and everything and smoked the crap outta him.
 
^you have low standards lol, a buddy of mine beat an LS1 gto with a mazda rx-8. now thats pretty sad...
 


at the track i was running even with them threw first gear after that they start to pull away at an incresingly rate. i red lighted one time, not by much and lost by a fender at the 1/8 mile (73mph) put about a car and a half on him off the line. i think it was the 6.0 also. he was running between 13.4 and 13.6 at 104 i think.

gtos just dont seem to perform well. im sure with the 3.4 and all the supporting mods you could give him a great run if not beat it. i would bet on saying you would win

I have a buddy here in town that has a STOCK 04 GTO. runs 14.6's all day long. very consistent. he has tried different lanches, this and that. He can drive it..... but it cant go any faster.

the 04's were severely under powered. they are heavy!!!!!

I love GTO LS2's but comon those Goat kids talk like they have Lambo's, they think they are the fastest cars on the road. pfff...

As far as my friends RX-8 beating that GTO, it was one of the first GTO's on the road, didnt get it on video. It was funny though, some old guy was driving it. And the RX-8 ran a 15.3 at the track :th_biggrin2:
 
I may be mistaken but the gto's have a diffrent block... I don't think that's it. Something is slightly diffrent than the plane old ls1 For some reason ls6 comes to mind.

I have to look it up when I get a chance.

Lol if u look at the thread I posted, in the second page, some dude tells me to change my bong water. Lol they do act like they drive lambos...
 
after 99 all ls1 blocks came with a ls6 block. not internals, just block. also after 99 all ls1's came with ls6 intake manifolds.

all the blocks are the same threw out the cars except the corvette ls1's came with high compression i belive. but the gtos shared the same block as the f-bodys

I think it shouldn't be too much work to beat an ls1 gto. Even not to much more to beat the ls2. That motor I think was overrated. My buddy had an 05 GTO and when I had my stock LT1 trans am w/ drag radials and I pulled a few cars on him. The LT1 was only rated at 275hp and 295 ft-lbs. The only mods I had were CAI, flowmaster catback and driver mod, which he desperately needed. Not all GTO owners can drive. The funny thing was the kid had an auto as well.
 


Alot of the issue with slower GTOs out there is piss poor drivers. I know of a local with a bone stock 04 LS1 Auto that ran a 13.6 in street trim (he ran many mid 13 and a few high 13 passes). I also know of another local with a bone stock 06 LS2 it hit a 12.99 though its a constant low 13 sec car. A good driver mod does wonders.

LSX motors have plenty of potential being an LS1 or 2. With the right combo of mods power can be made very easily.

With the right driver that LS1 GTO can get ahead of your easily. If he has headers, exh, CAI, a good tune, and a driver mod... you're ass is grass when he hits mid range.

On the other hand, he'll probably another one of the many GTO owners out there that simply cannot drive there car, especially with that 6spd, alot more room for error. In that case you'll most likely win with a few mods and some traction (keyword).
 
with my mods i beat my friend from a 20ish roll. but he had radials so he womped on me from a dead stop. stupid traction issues
