Battery

Several good options above. Think about who you would rather go to for a replacement if needed. I chose a NAPA Legend in November 2011.

Opitma is the way to go. A bit pricey maybe but i've never had a problem from them. I started buying them in high school and that's all I run now. Especially if you have subs in your car, i can play my stereo for hours with the lights on, hop in and start right up and go.
But if you just want a normal battery, i work at napa so i would suggest a Legend, or Interstate is a really good brand.

Batteries are really only made by 3 different companies
Delphi makes AC Delco brand batteries
Exide makes Exide, Champion, NAPA, and EverStart batteries.

Johnson Controls makes everything else.

As far as quality goes they are all the same, ever wonder why they all look alike? outside of manufacturer specific batteries they are all the same.
So go ahead and go to Wal-Mart and grab a battery it'll last the exact same as anything else, every other price hike is just a warranty or name thing.

I agree, Optima is the way to go. I have one in a 95 F250 thats 12 years old. They might cost two or three times as much but you get two or three times the life and dependability.

Thats not good to hear. How bad have they gotten?

I know several people who have had them crap out in less than a year and have the same experience with each replacement. I know of a few places locally that stopped carrying them because they were tired of all the warranty problems and irritated customers. I know of a few places that still carry them, but advise against them when people come looking for them.

Well, thats depressing if true. I just bought a new Optima Red Top for my car. The old one lasted like 7 years and was abused to frick and back with full discharges n' stuff. Its not even completely dead, but it was close enough. Hopefully, this new one lasts like the old one I had rather than what you're seeing.

Optima red top here too...bricked 3 different batteries last summer, every time I had a bonfire and played the radio. Drove right to autozone the last time I had to get jumped, put the optima in out in their parking lot....never looked back.

I have a road runner in the GP and never gives me trouble, I've had weeks of below 0 degree starts and it never gave me a problem. AC Delcos used to be good, ain't so much anymore. I work at Sears so I probably should rep diehard but I don't think anything special about the Diefast name... Road runner or ac delco.

How long have you worked there? Back in the 90's DieHard had great batteries. We could not kill them. It seemed like 99-2001 the quality went in the toilet and they just became an average battery. Supposedly the new DieHard Platinum I think that is what it is called) has done well, but is made by a different manufacturer than the rest of the Die Hard line. With what it costs you might as well go with something else. Have you seen the Die Hard battery quality change over the years?

Oddyssey are good as well, but very $$$$

So I'm needing to get a new battery for Prix in about a month once I start driving it again. I couldn't find a thread on this forum about car batteries so I thoughts I'd make one and see what kinda batteries everyone is running and what is good a brand and what isn't. I've read that the EverStart batteries from Wally World are the best for the price and they have a warranty on them. But besides... What is the best one to go with? EverStart? Interstate? Exide? DieHard? Legend (napa)? What would you suggest I would buy that is a great battery?

I am using an ACDelco PG34 in the GP now. It seems to work well. But I have only had it for 5 months so I cannot say the longevity of the battery.

So in summary... what is the ultimate one to get.

Choices (add to if i miss one)
1. Duralast Gold
2. AutoCraft Gold
3. ACDelco
4. Optima $$$
5. Deka

I've had an Everstart Maxx in my Stealth for 3 years have had one in the Grand Prix for about a year. Best bang for the buck, and the CCA crushes Autocraft.
