Battery replacement

I spent 1 1/2 hrs. yesterday removing the battery from my '99 and today I have spent about two hours trying to wrestle the new one in and have still not gotten it. There has to be a trick I'm missing. I have removed the ignition module and windshield washer filler neck.
I didn't find any results on a search that were helpful.

Remove the metal brace or what ever that thing is called that is over the battery. Its only held on by 2 bolts, remove that and the battery comes right out.

i just changed mine yesterday. it is somewhat of a b**** to replace you just gotta kinda wiggle it down in there, did you take the fuse box off?

You have to take the fuse box and the fender brace off then it will come out. Should take no longer than 2 minutes to take it out...

I took the cover off the fuse box and moved the larger of the two wire harnesses. The harness that goes between the fill neck on the radiator and the core support was just long enough to pull it up and out of the way. The idler for the S/C was not letting it drop down where it needed to be to turn to the right angle it needed to be at to put in the hold down for the battery.

When I took it out, I ended up working the battery around, prying on some things and bringing it up on end and pulled it out that way. I just didn't want to turn the new battery on its end like that. This was quite the ordeal, but it's done now. Walmart junk battery out and new MegaTron Interstate where it belongs.

I'm not exactly happy about this whole deal. Pulling and rebuilding an engine, or transmission is a cake walk. Setting up gears in a rear-end is a no brainer. Changing a battery in this car, though, was a horrible experience. I've never been so close to grabbing a reciprocating saw and/or gas wrench:th_shakinghead2:
