my daughter has a 04 grand prix gt recently had radiator changed leaking at end caps i think now the fans dont come on could have been prior problem just the info im gettin .fans will come on when the a/c is on .one more thing that may be related the a/c doesnt blow cold but this maybe a different problem i dont know if compressor kicks in or not main ? is what relay would this be caused by or?what should i check next?

pop the hood turn the ac on, see if the compressor turns or not.

fans dont come on till 212 degrees too, so its got to be all warmed up.

so i dont have the car here but is 212 less than 3/4 on the temp gauge also does one of the relays have anything to do w/ the a/c clutch engagement?

maybe, but if its low on r- what ever we use now it wont blow cold as the clutch wont spin.

it could also be the blend door actuators are not turning and its stuck on hot. but see if the compressor clutch is spinning first.

your ac system maybe low on freon. if its low it wont blow cold or barely blow cold. so get a cheapo gauge and run the ac and you will see if its in the green

the a/c is not the main issue. the radiator fans dont come on unless you turn on the a/c .not blowing cold is not what i m askimg about but what relay or fan control switch do i need to check cause the fans work but not until you turn on the a/c??

ok so its over heating?

then it could be the temp sensor under the t stat in the lim. if you unplug it both fans should come on and stay on.

best to get a delco sensor. most guys who swap it for a aftermarket sensor change it 3 times due to new in the box bad sensors.

Then I guess I'm not getting low speed on either. Better go check some relays. The high speed fans are the same speed as when the AC is on.

Not really, since I put in the 180* thermostat it doesn't get over 195. It will get as high as 221 then will drop to 205 or so. If I'm running th AC it will stay about 195-206 in stopped traffic if I'm rolling its 195 but if it's a cool day it will be about 188. With the 195 it would stay about 205 in traffic and about 195 at a cruise. In traffic now it will raise to 221 then drop down to 205 without the AC running.

My relays function out of circuit. I'm not real sure how this works because there are 3 relays labeled 1,2,3 so you have 2 fans. I would guess that the smaller relay using a resistor I haven't found could do low speed then 2&3 come on for high speed. I haven't looked at that part of the schem yet though.
