• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Okay, I've got notice that GPF is turning into ClubGP!

Is it true that the forum is passing out bans for signatures linking to other GP Forums?

If this is true, please tell me now
I'll pack my sh|t and leave!

I came to GPF to get away from CGP's crap

Looking forward to replies regarding this matter

A warning was issued for a link in a signature that violated the forum rules, but no one was banned. The rules are clear and that you have so many 'points' you get before one is banned. Its temporary at first and if the same behavior continues, then it will become permanent if the same behavior continues.

I also point out that you are not being told the whole story either. However, I am not going to air it out here in the public forum. Suffice it to say that if the action that this person carried out here was done on the other board, there would have been no warnings, no second chances, nothing. I know this from personal experience. At least here you are given a chance to get back within the boundaries set by the rules.

No one likes being told they have done something wrong let alone face any type of consequences because of such actions. So I ask you keep that in mind as well. We arent out to drive people away, but we do have the rules in place to keep things nice around here and to keep things in order.

I can count on my hand in the 6 months this board has been on line the number of people we have had to issue in fractions to. Can you say that about the other place? Again, we have the rules for a reason and try to give everyone equal chances. I may have personally taken a different action because the offense has been a repeated one, but as someone pointed out to me what good are the rules if we ourselves (mods and admins) dont follow them.

Be sure you are getting both sides of the story and the truth at that. I hate to see you go, and would prefer you stay, but we will enforce the rules..

Please direct me to the rules (about signatures), I can't seem to find it. I do see the forum rules though. Thanks

Rule 4, Links To External Sites: You may provide specific links to other sites as long as the link you provide is answering a question posed by one of the community members. No spamming will be tolerated. Spam links (or messages) will be deleted and the spammer dealt with accordingly.

Generic (forum) links will be deleted. Links must go to the page where the answer is found and not to the "Home" Page.

For example, if you go to Wal-Mart you wont be handed a flier for (Some other store). However, if Wal-Mart does not carry an item they have been known to refer people to Best Buy (where the item can be found). (Similarly, in the intrest of furthering the community and keeping happy customers, if content is not yet available here, please refer a member to somewhere specificly where the information can be found.)

This has nothing to do with a signature. I'm confused. Maybe you need to update the rules a bit. JMO

As I stated, it is unnecessary to mention specifically signatures. There is no difference between a link in a signature and a link in the forums.

I will end this here, however, as Im not going to debate the rules and Im not going to split hairs either.

O.K. by me!

Still  though!

What it boils down to is this person was Pm and ASKED to removed said link from there sig. They responded back with the demender they where not going to do it so it was removed. Said person put the link back in there sig. Remember this is after being told not to put it in there sig. They knew that we did not want it there. So it was removed and an infraction was issued by another admin.

Few months go by and we have the same deal again. At this point they can't say they didn't know. Link shows back up in sig. I personal removed it. It showed back up and I gave another him an infraction.

If he can't follow the rules or anyone else cant follow the rules, don't come here. I give him the respect of not posting links to my site "this one" on his grand prix site, please don't do it to mine. This is all i ask. We both want our community's to be more than what clubgp could offer.

We are not Clubgp!

we are a community......that offers support for one another, help if needed, with a wide variety of very knowledgeable people!!!

if you have an idea for this site no matter how big or small..feel free to suggest it! we are here for you!!!!!

Okay,...
I guess I see what you are saying, but...
Look at my sig, it has a link to CGP in the form of my "Mod List" & "MySpace" both are links to "off site"...
Also, many people have links to "Car Domain" and such...
So, you can't pick and choose, what makes these okay but GPONA isn't?
This is where the drama starts and people feel bullied, get it?

I'm not on a soap-box on this, but it's the truth...
You need to edit and explain the rules...
If I can't have the links in my sig that I have I will take my posts elsewhere
If you are going to pick and choose the links allowed in sigs then this has become CGP

I hope this makes sense, it's clear as day on my side of the screen

EDIT:
I understand 110% about spamming posts with links offsite
We want the community to grow, and we need people posting here for that to happen
I am only concerned about the links people have in there sig, the sig is a way for you to be you...
It tastes like a dress code to me if that makes sense

You are not advertising another site...you are providing a link to your PERSONAL site within those sites.

This really just sounds like people getting their panties in a knot, which appears to be a growing theme on forums. The guy was provided the rules, given opportunities to comply, was defiant, and was warned, not even banned. Get the hell over it, stop whining on the internet, and get back to the purpose of the site: playing with cars.
