Bad tie rod?

I was rotating the tires today because the rears had more tread than the fronts. These Goodyear eagle t/r's were really loud, especially when turning. With the better tread on the front they are not as loud as before.....but still have to be the loudest tires I've ever run. With the fronts off I found this:

Anything else I should look at while replacing these? Thanks!

Yup the boots ripped, needs replacing.

Did you jack up the front and with the steering wheel unlocked (key on) shake it down to see if anything else was loose?

Otherwise, crack the jam nut loose and count how many turns you spin it off and then spin the new one on the same amount and tighten the jam nut back on and go get an allignment asap.

Thanks! Before I pull the wheels off, I'll jack it up and see if anything else is loose.

3&9 could also possibly be ball joints. Just make sure you look and see whats moving under there.

Yes sometimes, other times just shaking the front of the tire, front and back could be a ball joint.

Ball joints are not very common to go on these cars.

Hold the ball joint and or ti rods are the best way to feel whats loose while another person shakes it.

I had 208K on my original ball joints so i'm sure they last a little while lol. Mine was getting a really bad clunk in the front end and the ball joints were the only thing i didn't change so I put new LCA's on and all is well.

Thanks for all the info!!

I'm only at 55,000 miles. The 00 that I used to have had almost 130,000 miles on original tie rods and ball joints. The only front suspension part to fail was my sway bar.
