Bad supercharger bearings causing kr?

Hey guys im trying to pinpoint a kr problem that has came up out if nowhere and i have not done any mods and yet i was kr free and now i have anywhere from 1-4*. Ive noticed my supercharger making quite a bit of noise which i always thought was the coupler but the noise actually gets louder as rpms go up. Which someone on here said the coupler should not make noise unless idling. So considering how ridiculously loud it is, could it be causing false kr?

sure can, i had a local i was tuning and for the life of me there was no killing the 7 to 9º kr from it. took th ebelt off, and went wot and no more kr.

it also had kr if revved in park. up to 2º.

Well derp there no knock with no boost. Who would have ever thought that would happen.

Toss some 100+ octane fuel in the tank when you get low on fuel, do a pull or two. If the knock is still present, then it's shouldn't be fuel/ignition related and something else is causing the knock sensors to pick up activity.

taking the belt off was to remove the sc from the equation, the 2º in park revved not bouncing off the limiter, belt on was the kicker. thats when i knew for sure it was the supercharger for sure.

Ya well ive been seing knock when im not even in boost but i can take the belt off and run kr free which is what makes me think its the supercharger itself.

Hey scotty so i just revved it in park and got 1.5* of kr so you think it could be the suoercharger itself?

i would. local guy here went to a gen 5 and no more retarded kr issues.

gen 3's are cheap and easy to find. gen 5 you can add the cost of the adapter plate as well. or go nuts and get a N* lol

Ya well i just spent all my money on e85 parts so i think ill have to find a cheapy gen 3 but what about just doing a rebuil on it?

Ya i just dont have a press and idk how much a shop would charge or if they would even know how to do it

Rebuilds ain't cheap! I'd go find a used one too, but... I still think OP should check his coupler before he does anything.

Ya i just didnt want to spend 40$ if i thought i might need a whole new supercharger as it us the rotor coating isn't that great on my current one which is why i havent changed the coupler yet. Cause it's like scotty said i coukd go pick up a whole nother one for 60$ more that already has a good coupler and better rotor coating. So ive been kind of torn on what to do

Hey scotty or someone ive been monitering my egr valve and have noticed it never goes past 55% duty cycle. I dont know a lot about how the egr works but im assuming if im flooring it and theres a lot of load on the engine it should be at 100% duty cycle. Maybe its not opening correctly and this could also cause kr?

Hmm ok well i will let you guys know what happens when i either replace the whole charger or do the coupler. Theres a guy locally that has a min condition gen 3 but he wants 150 for it. It does come with throttle body and all the sensors but i dont need any of that lol

You could always unplug your EGR and go for a drive. It'll throw a check engine light if the code isn't deleted, but it wouldn't hurt to rule it out as an option.

You said your KR came out of nowhere, how long ago did it start? Did anything change shortly before it started? New parts, different gas station or octane, etc?

I started noticing it about a month ago. I say it came out of no where because of the fact nothing changed i havent modded it anymore, i havent changed the tune, i always use highest octane 91 in Arizona. So im trying to find things that could go bad and cause kr because i had it tuned spot on and now it's all messed up.

If i unplug the egr wont it just stay closed which would potentially cause more kr since im not getting the "cooling effect" from it
