Bad Radio Reception

My 2000 GT doesn't pick up but a few radio stations (clear enough to listen to)

Does anyone know what I could do to boost reception.

BTW I have 5% tint on the rear window, would that be a factor in the bad reception??? The antenna is on the rear glass isn't it???

Thanks

yeah the antenna is on the back glass...

do you have oe stereo or aftermarket? if aftermarket, you need to make sure the wire for the power antenna is connected... there's a factory booster in the roof.

if your tint has metal film in it, yeah it could cause a problem

more than likely the tint is the issue, whoever the braindead engineer was that came up with the back glass he should have seen the previous glass antennae fiasco (in the late '70s it was in the windshield, and you couldn't pick up jack)

you could drill and mount an oe style antenna on the rear fender, like the early '97's had.

Thats what I mean, it looks out of place.

I saw an newer Impala, like a 02', with a small antenna on the outside of the rear glass, I don't know if it was OEM or not, but it didn't look too bad.

that's likely for aftermarket XM, etc

you could try and mount an early 97 style antenna in the trunk or under the car, but not sure what the reception would be

Alright, thanks for the help/suggestions.

I think Im just gonna get sat. radio, don't really want to waste any money for the am/fm junk we have around here anyways.

I have 2% tint and no issues with reception. My problem occured right after upgrading my plugs, wires, coil packs. I heard plugs can cause this issue.
