bad headgaskets from overheating

So long story short my l67 overheated due to a belt break, a few weeks later the head gaskets went. So I basically just want to know if its worth putting new head gaskets on or do you think there is too much damage like cracked or warped heads. So am i better off buying a new engine if so where is the best place to find a good engine.
 


I have an 04 na and my head gaskets failed. I put new gaskets and had a little but of work done on the heads and it's been fine ever since. Definitely cheaper than buying a new motor and not a real hard job to do yourself.
 
I bought my car with an apparently overheated engine and bad headgaskets. Was drinking coolant, missing on Cyl 3 and 5. (HG was burnt between the both on a coolant hole, exhaust valves were burnt aswell.)

15k later, new gaskets all over, XP Cam and new lifters. Had the heads milled, magnafluxed, bad valves replaced and the other had a job done.

Still drives fine today with the mods.
 
Sounds good i guess I'll be doing the same, do I need to get a thicker gasket if the heads are milled so i don't raise the compresssion?
 


Should I replace the lifters too, I don't plan on doing a cam I'll just keep the high ratio rockers?

I have another question. If i have them port and put new valves in would it make any more power I dont plan on running a cam just the 1:8 rockers that are on it. If not is there anything worth doing while the heads are off polishing maybe?

I also have an intercooler to go on and 3.0 pulley+e85 but i dont have any more plans for mods.
 
Not saying a proper valve job wouldn't help.....because it will, but, unless you open up the intake and exhaust ports....you may not notice it.
