• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Back to stock... Have a few issues.

I finally got my car back to stock. I'm having a few problems though.

NOTE: The car doesn't want to start on the MAF, so I'm running in speed density. Also, there is a minor exhaust leak. I haven't had time to fix these issues, but I'm not sure they are the cause of my problems anyway.

1. The car surges at idle, and RPM goes up and down.

2. The fuel trims are reading CRAZY negative values. I saw -40 at one point. Not sure if this is MAF related? I can also smell raw fuel in the car on startup.

3. Engine still makes light scraping noise at around 2000 RPM. I'm not expecting anyone to solve this, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Didn't see any leaks but I'll check again. I also forgot to mention, I'm still running GTP injectors, and the Autolite 104 plugs. I have a GT tune on it though...

Ya. What table should I change buddy? Should I keep the MAF table and VE table stock, but use all the GTP injector tables?

Changed injector flow rates to GTP values. Now the car either starts up for a second, then dies, or it starts up fine, runs for a minute, then dies out of no where. Same thing is happening whether MAF is plugged in or not.

Even changed the values back. It doesn't want to stay running, unless I hold my foot on the gas.

Figured out the idle/starting issue. The IAC was all gunked up. The MAP and MAF were also bad. As for the metallic noise, I throttled up the engine a bit and put my head down by the timing cover. It's definetely coming from there. It sounds like the chain is rubbing on something. WTF.

Did you replace the tensioner when you did the cam?

Oh, and does the car run on the MAF since you cleaned the IAC?

Something is rubbing and it doesn't make any sense. Everything in there is new, and I've torqued everything down. When I took it off before, I noticed the cam sprocket had been rubbing on the front cover. I'm assuming this is the same issue... But WHY!?

I also noticed I am getting a high pitched whine coming from the engine under acceleration. It almost sounds like a turbo.

I just pulled it for the 15th time to replace the damaged cam sprocket and thrust plate. Torqued everything back up, installed everything properly, and BAM, same noise.

I wanted to fix it before I sell it. I'm afraid the timing chain/gears are going to come apart and ruin the motor.
