AWD TURBO...Bio?

if you want AWD and turbo then you should look into these vehicles:

- any subaru, they are all nice cars in their own way (remember that the 5 speed has a weak 2nd and 3rd gear that like to get stripped if you drive like a doucher)
- audi quattros, namely an a4 with the 1.8T or 2.0T
- mazda speed 6, awd turbo mazda monster
- possibly a new fusion?

how much are you looking to spend?

Mazda RX-8. But like others have mentioned, the route you're trying to go doesn't seem like it's going to save you any money at all.

Never said I liked it, just throwing out possible options.

And I really DO like the RX-7, sweet car.

actually the fast- cheap- reliable triangle can be achieved but ive only done it once. s10 4X4 5 speed with a small block in it. :)

Go get an older TT 300ZX.. ok maybe not. My vote would probly be on any subaru, just because I think their the only decent looking foreign cars.

thanks bio, and the way i look at it now ( i could be wrong) i think an 04 can be had easily in decent shape with low miles, that way i have a couple years before it all starts to go... My gp however is falling apart and seems to have more and more rust every day i look at it. and as much as i love them i dont wanna buy another gp and find my self in the same boat in the near future.

...and you giuys have seen how slow my mods come lol its not like ill get it and do some balls out crazy boost build that pops pistons left and right

but yeah i appreciate the input ill look more into cost of ownership stuff when i find a couple cars i like

soo far: wrx sedan

legacy 2.5 gt

and others soon think

are the audis more realiable now, i was looking int some 1.8t's before i got the gp and only heard bad stuff

and thanks for the weak gear insight seeing as how i havent driven a 5 speed since i was 16

just be weary that if you dive like a jackass that youll be needing to replace hard transmission parts. honestly i could see if you drove like a normal human being that the transmission would last forever. im talking no clutch dumps from a dead stop, shifting nice and smoothly, and going WOT once its actually meshed into the gear fully. i know people with high power levels can go WOT in 2nd or 3rd (already fully engaged), flex the transmission housing, and strip all the teeth off the gears since they are able to separate from one another when the case flexes. however, sub 300 whp i dont think people run into much of an issue so long as they drive normally.

take it with a grain of salt, most internet tough guys saying youll break the transmission dont know how to drive. i, however, want the bulletproof 6 speed so there is no way im getting a WRX over an STI. if the 5 speed were not an issue i would FOR SURE jump on the legacy GT bandwagon because they are much nicer looking cars, more low profile, less on insurance, and have the same drivetrain as the WRX.

as far as audis go, dont know much about them. i was debating looking at a few, but when i was looking for a car they were out of my price range. at this point i dont think ill jump ship for one since i am actually really liking subaru right now.

mmmmmmmmmm sti, i wish i could get one i dont think i could dd it though and yeah my insurance would kill me, and i fell strangley comfortable with subbies to, im really liking the legacy

I cant seem to find too many specs on the engine and turbo/ intercooler, but Im assuming its all the same or close to the same as the sti

does anyone know if this is true and if so why ha the sti got ~ 50 hp more?

most cars have small blocks in them :th_winking:

no one has mentioned a volvo. i really like the volvo s60r.

yeah my uncle has one and i love it, but i think its too expensive to mod, his car is actually whats making me want the awd turbo.

the more research i do the more i realize how expensive all these cars are to mod

up until 06 the WRX had the 2.0L motor that was able to rev a little higher and quicker than the 2.5L motor that is in the 06+ WRX and 04+ STI. both motors make power, but both motors have their limits. aftermarket exhaust, turbos, intercoolers, etc. are all nearly identicle to one another for both motor setups. the STI will start with the 2.5L motor and a slightly bigger turbo and intercooler than the WRX gets, netting the extra power it has stock. you can modify a WRX to have the power an STI does without much effort, but once you start modifying the STI you start to see the differences. WRXs also dont come with as nice of suspension parts and the transmission is no where near as nice. otherwise, same body, pretty much the same motor, etc. one thing the STI really has above all the other lower models is the interior. the interior on my subbie is complete crap in comparison to a guy at work's STI. his seats are actually comfortable, mine are not.

i am actively collecting parts to put on the STI when i get it. ill already have some 19s and a full 3" catback by the time i get it. possibly more parts, but we'll see how much money i have once i get done with my bike build. im sorta poor right now.

i was talking about the legacy gt but its probably a similar deal,
good to hear your about your incoming sti, what years are you looking at?

the legacy gt will act similarly to a WRX, its got the 5 speed and i THINK they put the 2.5L motor in it since they started making them in 05. however, finding a GT with a 5 speed is going to be one hell of an adventure.

im looking at 06-07. i dont like the hatch that is 08+, not enough money to buy a 2011, and im not as fond of the looks of the 04-05. 04 are the most 'raw'. they didnt even come with a radio from the factory. the 05 is a little updated 04 setup, same body, but with a little added features. 06-07 is the body style of my current car, but those two came with bigger turbos and tend to look nicer with the right touches. id settle for an 05 if i found one for the right price, but i dont think i want an 04 at all. the car will be my DD, so im not looking on putting down a considerable amount of power or anything, but there is no way in hell i'd buy it and never touch the motor. i know myself better than that. :D
