I've got a question that maybe someone can help me out with...as most of you I'm sure know, the 04 or 05+ have the cd player that has the "aux" button on it. I've been looking on google for 2 days now trying to find out the right compatibility and such to be able to hook an ipod into that aux button.

So far I've gathered that I'll need to buy an aftermarkert adaptor, but I just want to see if anyone can give direction as to which one is correct, etc. I've see things for 9pin connectors, 12pin connectors, and so on. I'm trying to snag one for cheap on ebay so I want to get the correct one. I don't have Onstar or XM but I do have the steering controls....can anyone shed some light??

It is a 16pin(if i remember correctly), but I don't know much else bout the 04+ radios

Edit: I was wrong, 12 pin

wish i could help man but mine came with 6cd deck with xm and no AUX...always could try contacting monsoon, gm...whoever...

02BlueGT - I do have the 08. I just put 04+ because I've read that they have used the same CD player since then. The cd player is a Delco #10352018. I can't seem to find any details one what kind of pin connector it takes. Look familiar to anyone?

I was asumming it uses the same plug as the radio in my g/f's cavalier, I did the aux in on my GP, but it is a 02 and was a 9-pin connector.....

it is a 12-pin connector on the new ones

As you can see above, it is the smaller plug on the left, if you want to use an Ipod, get one of these:

eBay Motors: USA Spec iPod Interface PA11-GM Chevy Truck (item 150292632846 end time Sep-15-08 16:21:54 PDT)

there are a few different types, but they all work similarly.... there may be some with standard 3.5mm input(headphone jack) but
i haven't looked for those yet....oh and these let you control the Ipod through the radio, as-in the seek and ff and all that on the radio will control the ipod:)

You rock...thanks...I'll grab one of those from ebay...

Now, lastly, any tips on getting it installed? i was considering taking it to a pro audio place and have them install but I fear they will charge me an arm and leg to do something i could probably do.

I've been trying to find ways to remove the radio on the 08's but can't find anything..usually i can find anything i want but not in this case apparently! lol...any tips on how to get to the radio?

thanks for all....

the entire dash bezel comes off and then you can see the 4 screws/bolts that need to be removed then the entire head unit comes out. it's not that hard to do.

Ok, I have instructions as to how to remove the dash around the OEM CD player. If anyone needs this info, shoot me a message and I'd be happy to share it with you. It's quite easy!!

Be sure the click on the 'Thanks' button for the posts that helped you out so that they know they helped and are hopefully encouraged to do so more in the future.

I have a 08 and all you need to do is pull the cover off from around the radio carefully. there are only clips holding it on. Your info window and ignition will come off with it. then like what was said before there are 4 screws to take the radio out.

How did this work out for you? I just got my 08 GP a few days ago, and really NEED my Ipod in there. Let me know, Thanks.

Ok, so let me get this straight, because I'm having the same issue. Thankfully I was grandfathered into Sirius with their lifetime membership before they merged, and just bought my car which is already wired with XM. I know this technically means nothing to me, or so my husband says, and if someone on here could help me prove him wrong, I WOULD LOVE TO DO IT. But I'm pretty sure I'm stuck having to place that antenna again. I'd like to use the same antenna on the roof, but I don't think I can because they originally threw different signals.

Now, on the picture above, that smaller plug, to the left, would that be compatible with the FM modulator that Sirus offers for their customers to use so they can hard wire their radios, listening to satelite and am/fm radio? :th_scratchhead: FM Direct Adapter - Shop Sirius is how I had my previous car stereo hooked up (2001 Ford Mustang) It comes with a 3.5mm hooked on to it, so I could use it for my Sirius and MP3 player. I just wanted to ask someone who has had their radio out before I go tearing mine all out. I have the most basic radio the 2005 Grand Prix came with.

Thanks everyone for reading my book I wrote!
