• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Aux Install Help

Ok, so I got the wrong size tap at first, but here is what all I have. Is this all I need? Or do I need to buy another fuse or something?

those connectors are butt connectors, and they SUCK bad.

if you want your wiring work to last, solder the connections and then shrink wrap them. go to you tube to learn how to solder, its to easy, nothing to fear.

So I hooked everything up tonight just to test it out. I ordered an RCA to 3.5mm cable over the weekend, but it won't be here for a couple of days. Anyways, I wanted to see if the AUX would at least show up on the radio without it, but it was a no go. Kind of disappointed, really want to at least know I'm moving in the right direction here.

Should the AUX output have shown up if power was going into the PAC?

Did you have a device attached to it?

No, I don't have an RCA cord to do it with. Just wanted to hook everything up and see if it would at least acknowledge an AUX output from the PAC. Will probably go to my buddy's tomorrow that an RCA cable and I plan on trying it out then. If that doesn't work I'm not sure what else to do.

Is the CD changer separate from the head unit? Or is it built into the head unit? The aai-gm12 says that it is only compatible if the CD changer is external.

It's built into it. I did read that, but I have read where people had gotten it to work with the one that I have. Pretty sure it isn't going to work for me though. I hooked everything up tonight, picked up the cable to connect the aux to my phone and it still wouldn't show up.

Only thing I can think of is since the XM isn't activated that slot might not be either. I asked my dad since he has a lot more car knowledge than me and the only possibility he could come up with is maybe the ground isn't working properly. Or the part just won't work.

Contact a dealer and see if they can enable the aux port with the TechII. I can't imagine they'd charge that much.

Did you ever figure this out? I want to do the same addition but have not been able to find an interface other than a FM modulated one which I do not want to use. I have the same factory setup and everythineg I've read there's nothing available on the market for this year and audio combination. Anxious to hear your results.

I'm desperate. I bought the aai gm12 but thankfully didn't bother wiring to my sunroof yet. I wanna know for sure someone can get the audio through somehow without doing all that work. The dealership said it'd be around 75 dollars to look at it but I'd really prefer to know how to do it or steer them in the right direction at least so they don't tell me all the crap I already know doesn't work. Blah!

There's also another method of tapping into the XML radio that works really. There's a wrote up in here for it that is simple. And no there's not a way to play it thru CD player on our cars. I tried a lot of different things

I don't have xm. The button says cd/aux but unlike the guy in that post I've never had xm and I don't have a screen like that. I wish there was an esc alt del kinda button combo that would let me program the factory crap without taking it to a dealership. Is a techII something I could rent from autozone or something?

Unfortunately as far as I know there's no way with out a slave unit to add a auxiliary in. U could just change out the radio. I've helped several local Pontiac owners with their sound system and swapping head units in them are pretty easy to do. Post a pic of ur head unit when u get a chance.

Just looked at ur profile. I used to have an 04 gp. Good car. I ended up changing the radio out with a used after market one I got on eBay. Also got the wiring harness and steering wheel adapter from there to. It would be ur best bet
