Autozone SOLID engine and trans mounts

Abrasive

I say it with pictures
Well, I completely blew out the motor mount along the Power Tour. I was looking into solid replacements to rid myself of those nasty hydraulic ones. Here's what I found. W-Body Store has the solid engine mount for $49.99 and the solid trans mount for $34.99. ZZP has the solid engine mount for $49.99 and the solid trans mount for $39.99 and even a poly trans mount for $89.99.

I decided to just check prices on a standard engine mount from the local auto parts store for comparison. Low and behold, I find that Autozone sells a solid engine mount and a solid trans mount as well. Now, it's important to note that these are NOT available at the stores, but available online only at AutoZone.com - Get in the Zone! . Just type the part numbers below into the search box there and it will take you right to them.

Autozone solid engine mount - Part #A2796 - $37.99
Autozone solid transmission mount - Part #A2712 - $29.99

Now here's the best part. Both come with a LIFETIME WARRANTY!

So I have the engine mount ordered and will update this when I get it so that I can give you an idea of the quality and ease of installation.

Here it is, not much to look at, but seems like a quality part. Write-up to come.

Here's the write up I just finished on the engine mount. I'll probably order the solid trans mount and do a write up on that one later.

I think you will be very happy with it. The only issue I had is the new rubber is pretty hard which made it hard to get the two upper studs lined up with the holes in the engine bracket since they were angled toward eachother a little bit. I ended up getting one lined up and letting the engine down onto the studs just slightly so that there was very little weight on it. With the rear stud slightly in the hole, I pryed against the engine bracket until the other one lined up and popped in. Then I let the engine down the rest of the way. Not really hard, just might want a prybar handy. Just so you know, for what it's worth.

After I got it done, the engine feels much more solid. I still have a slight pop when I stop, but I am sure I have narrowed that down to the upper strut mount on that side. Write up on that coming soon. lol. Either way, my mount was bad and needed replaced anyway.

I installed this mount when I changed my pan gasket a good product but it takes a little work to get it lined up,with this mount and poly uppers you get a real solid fealing good buy IMHO.Chico.

I know that suspension autozone house brand parts are made by MooG, I think the engine /tranny and transfer case mounts are made by MooG as well, found this out when I replaced all the mounts on one of my 4x4's.

I installed teh solid mounts on my ride and it seems to sit level. I cant say it doesnt.
and like abrasive said you will be happy with the way they feel.

DEA mounts are pretty decent, i have them on my Safari truck

I'm also a technician and have installed these mounts for customers strapped for cash.

Problems i have found:

-Bolt holes sometimes will not line up
-Compare mount to original, sometimes guides are off

majority have been good, but have had a good number of them defective

hehehe you want a hard install of mounts? try a set of f-body mounts...i faught with mine for 8 hours! good times...lots of beer and cursing! anywho! how much do these affect the vibration factor?

This is true. fbody mounts are very difficult. Should have done mine while the heads were off.

I was replacing my CPS and found my motor mount was blown. Auto Zone wanted about 60 bucks for a solid mount, but NAPA had one for 42. I already had the car on a lift, and the install only took an extra ten minutes.

just looked at prices of these today online and they went up?

tranny - $34.99
engine - $49.99

so much for saving a bunch of money on it..
