Autozone SOLID engine and trans mounts

What's new? Seems like everything is going up these days anyway. Besides, they probably jacked the price when they suddenly became popular due to a post on a National message forum about them. LOL! You're welcome.
 


If you just want cheap stock replacements, try rockauto.com. The motor mount (A2796) is $28, and the trans mount (A2712) is $21. There is always a 5% coupon floating around the web as well, so they are even less. I just picked up the trans mount from there along with some new Moog rear end links.

same parts at checker/shucks/kragen/parts america...but for more money...same numbers anyways...
if i got some, i would stick with autozone...i still get my 15% discount there too...lol!!!
 


When i ordered mounts from autozone, i bought solid for both sides, when the trans mount came, it had HY on the end of the part number (although the SOLID one was the one ordered) Shake it and make sure its not hydralic because mine was, even after ordering the solid part 3 times, the hydralic part came.
 
Just got boned. The A2712 from autozone was juiced. In other words, the tranny mount that was in the A2712 mount was hydraulic.

However, the mount in in the A2796 box was dry or solid. I think i found a solid tranny mount at carquest but wish me luck or please advise on what to do next.
 
Do you think I might have better luck (or at least easier returns) by ordering these at the parts desk at Autozone?
 
maybe..........give it a shot..at least you will have someone to be pi$$ed at when they come in and aren't the ones that you ordered.
 
I have been researching this for a while now and have found numerous GPers complaining that all of the various part stores "solid mounts" have hydro fluid in them. I know I have personally had 2 Napa Solid mounts blow. I am installing the solids from Wbody this week. There are some articles floating on clubgp on how make your own poly motor mounts. Looks pretty simple.

Hey man, I have a question for you. You said you 2 Napa mounts blow... what did the do when they screwed up? What kind of noises if any? Look any different? Wondering if this maybe my issue....
 
There are a couple of easy to spot tell-tell signs. first, I use the long oil filter and when the motor mount is blown I can't get it in or out. Second, as soon in the picture below the motor leans to the passenger side. The dogbones make it easy to see. And another common problem last year was a bunch of mounts from one of the Asian countries were made to short. It is a good habbit to check the height compared to the specs. I don't remember what it is supposed to be. I have it here somewhere.
