automatic lights suck

Automatic lights rock :th_thumbsup-wink: That was one of the reasons i sold my SuperDuty; no auto lights. That, and it was a Ford.
What would be the purpose of wanting to disable them?
The Daytime Running Lights would be on anyway.

there is a fuse in the fuse box in the glove compartment in my '99...it controls ur daytime running lights as well as automatic lights so pull it if u dnt want either...if u want just the automatic lights and to disable the daytime running lights simply unplug the wire that goes into the metal box...it can be viewed thru the compartment on the drivers side of the dashboard that get covered by the door

To diable DRLs pop the dash cover on the sidde of the drivers side compartment. Unplug the wires from the big heat sink and you will have no DRLS,

For the auto lights pop the cover on the dash that has the hole and small light sticking out of it. Twist the assembly on the right to get access to the light sensor. Take the sensor out and out in a 470 ohm 5% resistor (found at radio shack) and yoiu will have NO auto lights.

Thats one of the reasons that i keep coming back to my pontiacs. I love the fact that i dont ever have to worry about turning my lights on. I do however understand why some people would like to turn them off. When i had my mustang it was fun to drive around with only parking lights and fog lights on. It kinda made the car look meaner at night IMO.

anyone ever heard of the search feature? This topic and the DRL's have been brought up about 90,845,424,328,459,745,721,375 times. That is a lot in my opinion...

if you play with the switch that controls your lights and put it between the second and third setting, you can turn off your headlights, the corners will still work and you can ride around with only fog lights if you want too also. The control is the one left of the steering wheel, near the one that controls the dim setting. you can also ride around with just corners too if you wanted too. :D

Thanks for all the tips here. I was just discussing how much I despise automatic lights last night and again today, trying to figure out how to disable them.

to disable the auto lights the cover on the dash, pop it off and i think its the one on the right that you disconnect...worked for me

I did this to my 2002, however... it didn't work. All my connections were good... but for 01+ if you cut the white wire from the BCM ... you will have no light flash on keyless, they still cut on at night though.

What year Super Duty? What's wrong with Fords? :(

Are you serious? Do you realize that you are on a GM forum? Or, have you ever ridden in a Ford? Not only did they find the problem, they circled it.
I own a Ford truck and it rides like a 1-ton truck should and I love it. I also realize I'm on a GM forum. The only problems I've had with my truck (which has 210,000 miles on it) is what you'd expect from a vehicle with that many miles on it. So hop off your tuffet little miss Muffet, I'm sure your car hasn't ever been in the shop, neither has anyones on here....
