im looking for a decent rebuild kit for a stock l67. i have found a couple on ebay but im not sure. has anyone ever used a rebuild kit before ?

why do you want to rebuild?

and once you crack the block everything needs machine work that isn't just a simple tear down and rebuild with new bearings.

I haven't seen any. The rebuilds I've experienced were more of all out builds. Most of those parts were chosen piece by piece.

Had a friend that rebuilt his with non-GM parts....the first crank he got didn't fit. I don't know any details other than that.

You would be much better finding a running bottom end and swapping it in.

Personally I'd get a l67 long block throw a good sized cam in it and fix some gaskets make so good power just a nice budget build.....if you rebuild yours it will break

I'm not sure on the kit, but as stated earlier, if you want your motor to last you'll need a good bit of machine work done. Which isn't cheap.

Do you not read what people have suggested?

You will be in over your head if you want to "rebuild" an engine back to stock. You can't simply split it, toss out the bad stuff, and throw in new. There is additional machining that needs to be done properly otherwise you might make 200 miles on your "rebuilt" engine.

Best bet buy an engine from the junkyard. Or spend money for a GM crate engine.

i know that block has to be machined... im almost 99 % my dad wont help me buy a used engine idk why hes just like that

rebuilding it will cost more than a used block.

short blocks run like $3-500 and then another couple hundred in gaskets you'll be well on your way.
