Is the gasket reusable for the supercharger? I am going to pull the SC and do a compression test and if it's reusable then great if not I'm going to have to use RTV as none of the stores have them in stock.

Thanks, I saw the price and checked around. Didn't want to drive into the bowels of Houston to pick one up. And $45 is stupid, so figured it may be reusable.

at this point I'm out of options, changed MAF and still same result goes lean for no reason and computer pulls boost. Don't know what else to check.

Did all that and used propane. When I used to have my SC we would have boost leaks where it wouldn't leak under vacuum but would under boost. This could be going on and I need to do a compression check as it's about the only thing I haven't done.

I redid and wire tied all the vacuum connections and replaced some worn out vacuum lines. I've got a whole list of things I've replaced mostly tune up things. Put it back to stock with the exception of a 180* stat.

its a metal gasket too, why its reusable. you could use a smear of rtv on both sides of the gasket to make sure its sealed when you put it back on.
 


Ok so I found that the long bolt on the forward side of the supercharger (next to connector for TB) had NO tension on it. So I got the SC off and this is what I found. Now what to do? Go bare naked with RTV, reuse the rubber seals for the TB (until I seal them off for good later). Or do I pookie up the end of the gasket that is split, add a smaaaaaallll amount of RTV on both sides?

Rtv the SC on and block the coolant ports, you can do it the simple way with dimes or pennies and a tad bit of rtv

Don't you only need the dimes in the coolant ports if you are using an intercooler? You don't have to grind the dimes down, just put them in the hole and use a hammer and smash them a few times. Also, Red Rtv out of a caulk gun is your friend. Use that.
 


No hardon, you can block those off at any time they are pretty much useless and just cause coolant leaks anyway. Fill em with jb weld.
 
They are way too large for that. I'm going to file down the ridges and get me some of that zinc! Also I got Blue since that's what we used in the SC community. Hope it works because I'm not going back today.

some like to let it sit over night. tq the sc on while the rtv is wet still, dont wait for it to firm up or set up or any thing first.
 
When I take diff covers off at work or if someone did a oil pan with gasket maker, I just let it sit and cure for 15-30mins and add fluid again. Sometimes the heat from a running motor makes them cure faster.
 


I had a neighbor come over to set the SC in place and did a 120in/lbs then followed up with 260 in/lbs then let it set for 5 minutes and hit it again at 260 in/lbs (17 ft/lbs). It's been sitting since for about 5 hours. I've done fuel system pressure check and was just going to wait a little longer and put on the belt.

Well that seemed to be a huge waste of time. Still no boost, got to 1.3psi then the valve kicked in and dumped boost. I let off and went around the block. When I fired it up I got the engine temp to 170 before I left while I was checking for leaks from the injectors or anything out of order.

back to square 1.
